I am installing a new WD3200AAJB HD in a Dell Dimension 4550. This is the only HD in the system. There are also 2 CD drives and a floppy drive. I used the jumper settings the drive came with which pins...

Reinstall your old hard drive as master and install the new hard drive as slave.

Here is the link to jumper settings from Westrn Digital;

http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1540&p_created=#jumper

If you've got your jumper settings wrong and installed your os on the 127 GB section of the 320 GB Hard drive and you change jumper settings and then you have problems you may need to reinstall the old hard drive as master and the new hard drive as slave. Reformat the new hard drive as 320 GB, and as a bootable drive. You can either do a disk copy from old to new or reinstall your os on the 320 GB drive. Please let me know how this goes. HTTP 400 BAD REQUEST

First, try updating windows. (Read everything below).
There is an error in windows .Net framework 1.1. Microsoft has a fix for this. You can read about it & manually repair this error at MS site. Click on the link below;
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826437

What you want to do when updating windows!
Do not use Express. You want to install all .Net framework updates (one at a time). Re-start your system when windows tell you too. There are updates up to .Net framework 3.5 with (SP3) & this will take some time.

Cheers!

I downloaded a program containing a virus that is quickly killing

It sounds like you got a dose of WINAntivirus Pro 2009, really nasty spyware. If that is the case, reformatting the system is almost a given.

You can try programs like Ad-Aware and Spybot search and destroy but some of these new ones are just way too time intensive to fully remove

I cant enter hotmail it says http 400 Bad Request

hi.

Cause The 400 Bad Request error is an HTTP status code that means that the request you sent to the website server (i.e. a request to load a web page) was somehow malformed therefore the server was unable to understand or process the request.

Resolution
  1. Check for errors in the URL. The most common reason for a 400 Bad Request error is because the URL was typed wrong or the link that was clicked on points to a URL with some kind of mistake in it.

  2. Though it's rare, the 400 Bad Request error could be an issue with the web site's server that you are trying to access. You may want to attempt to contact the webmaster or another site contact and inform them of the error message. The webmaster of most Internet sites can be reached via email at webmaster@website.com, replacing website.com with the actual website name.
