Bonjour is not needed:

To remove Bonjour:

  1. Open a Windows command prompt and type the following command:
    "C:Program FilesBonjourmDNSResponder.exe" -remove
  2. Navigate to the following folder in Windows Explorer: C:Program FilesBonjour
  3. Rename the mdnsNSP.dll file in that folder to mdnsNSP.old
  4. Restart your computer
  5. Delete the the Program FilesBonjour folder
Note: Removing Bonjour prevents Version Cue clients (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Bridge) from automatically discovering Version Cue Servers and Version Cue projects in your local network. You will need to connect manually using Connect to Server and the URL or IP address of the machine running Version Cue Server instead.

    Also:

Version 5 of iTunes also loads the InstallDriver Table Manager service and as the previous versions also the iPod Service service, which loads even if there isn't an iPod connected. I think the following is a safe configuration:
    - Bonjour Service: disabled
    - InstallDriver Table Manager: manual
    - iPod Service: manual (or even disabled if you don't own an iPod).

iTunes also puts iTunesHelper and QuickTime Task in System Startup, which also can be safely disabled.

The last version also fires up mdnsresponder.exe which connects to your dns-server. I presume this executable is a part of the Bonjour Service. I deny all connections for it in my firewall.

For all the people who thought Apple keeps its software simple and effective, this must come as a huge surprise...

Unable to install update ios7.0

Try using iTunes

  1. Back up your device to either iCloud or iTunes before performing any kind of update.
  2. Make sure you're on the latest version of iTunes.(I would make sure it is ver11.1) Go to About and then Check for Updates or visit Apple.com.
  3. Launch iTunes on your Mac or PC.
  4. Plug in your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.
  5. Once your computer recognizes it, click on the Summary tab if you aren't already there.
  6. Under the iPhone section, click on Check for Update.
  7. iTunes should recognize that there is an update available for iOS 7.0, click onDownload and Install on the window that pops up.

IPhone os update was interrupted now the phone will not work and I cannot continue the install

it couldn't be easier to update iTunes, just choose "Check for Updates" under the iTunes menu on a Mac, or from the iTunes Help menu on a PC. This checks both your iTunes software and your iPod software for updates. If both are up to date, you'll be told that iTunes is up to date, if updates for either are available you'll be offered the appropriate update. On a Mac you can even use "Software Update..." under the Apple Menu from your desktop.
To check just for iPod software updates, connect your iPod to your computer, launch iTunes, and choose the iPod in the Source pane. From the iPod Settings Summary tab that appears, if the Update button is available-black, not grey-then new iPod software is available. Just click the Update button and follow the directions.

Iphone will not restore error 13

You can resolve the restore issues using the troubleshooting steps found in this document:

1. Update to the latest version of iTunes

To see if you have the latest version of iTunes, open iTunes and check for updates.
  • Windows: Choose Help > Check for Updates
  • Mac: Choose iTunes > Check for Updates
If there is an update to iTunes available, install the update and try to restore again. If you do not have an active connection to the Internet, or your Internet security settings are configured to prevent iTunes from communicating with Apple, iTunes will alert you that the iTunes update server could not be contacted. Resolve your Internet issues and attempt to update again.

2. Restart your computer
Simply restarting the computer can clear up certain issues that could prevent you from restoring iPhone or iPod touch. After you restart, try restoring the device again in iTunes.

3. Open the proper ports and allow access to Apple servers
During the update and restore process, iTunes needs to contact Apple. Ensure that your computer has the following ports open and can access these servers:
Port 80
Port 443
phobos.apple.com, albert.apple.com, gs.apple.com
If you see "Error 9807", you must open access to the following VeriSign servers:
evintl-ocsp.verisign.com
evsecure-ocsp.verisign.com
If you are using a Windows operating system, you can follow this article to help resolve issues caused by third-party security software.
You may need to update, properly configure, disable, or uninstall built-in firewalls and other security software to prevent interference with iTunes. For assistance with this, contact the company that supports the firewall or security software you use. If you are using proxy settings, try to restore or update without using a proxy.
4. USB Troubleshooting
Connect iPhone or iPod touch to a different USB port on your Mac or Windows PC. USB 2.0 ports that are built in to the computer are preferred over a hub. If you tried connecting iPhone or iPod touch to USB ports on the front of the computer, try connecting them to rear USB ports. After doing this, try to restore the device in iTunes.
If the issue continues:
Remove all USB devices except the keyboard, mouse, and iPhone or iPod touch. Remove all USB hubs and connect directly to the computer.
Connect iPhone or iPod touch directly to the included USB cable, bypassing the dock.
Restart the computer.
Try to restore the device again in iTunes.
If available, test with alternative, known-good USB cables.

5. Restore on a different computer
If the issue is not resolved with the above steps, try to restore using a different computer. Ensure that the computer you use has USB 2.0 ports, the latest version of iTunes, and that you connect directly to the computer.
If another computer is not available, proceed to the Advanced Steps below.

Got unlocked iphone, tried to restore factory settings now its stuck on bitten pineapple...any help plz just got this phone?

Hi,
Here u can follow the steps

Step 1: Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of iTunes if you haven’t already. Download iTunes 8.2 from the link given below.
Step 2: Now connect your iPhone with your PC. You must connect it to a single usb port on the backside of your computer. Do not use any usb hub or the ports in the front as this could cause an error during update process.
Step 3: Start iTunes 8.2. Sync your iPhone with your PC so that iTunes backs-up all your important data including settings, apps, music, contacts and photos.
Step 4: You will now have to download a custom cooked firmware for your iPhone version (2G or 3G). I can’t post the download links for these files for the reasons you all know very well. Just Google “iPhone 2G Custom 3.0” (If you are using iPhone 2G) or “iPhone 3G Custom 3.0” (If you are using iPhone 3G) and use one of the torrent links to download the custom created .ipsw file.
Step 5: Once you have downloaded the required .ipsw file, Copy/Paste it into this location:
“C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\” (Windows 7)
“C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\” (Windows Vista)
“C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Update\” (Windows XP)
Step 6: Restart iTunes. You will now be prompted to install this firmware you just download. Just close this prompt dialog by clicking on “x” from the top right-most corner of the window.
capture.png
Step 7: Now you will have to restore your iPhone to this custom firmware 3.0 that you just downloaded. Click on your phone from the sidebar in iTunes to get to this screen as shown in the screenshot below:
capture2_thumb.png
Now press and hold left “Shift” button on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” (Not “Update) button in the iTunes and then release the “Shift” button.
2e_thumb.png
This will make iTunes prompt you to select the location for your downloaded custom firmware 3.0. Select the downloaded .ipsw file and click on “Open”.
Step 8: Now sit back and enjoy as iTunes does the rest for you. This will involve a series of automated steps some of which are highlighted below:
asd.pngafasf.pngggg.png
Don’t do anything silly at this point. Just wait while iTunes installs the new firmware 3.0 on your iPhone. Your iPhone screen at this point will be showing a progress bar indicating installation progress. After the installation is done, iPhone will restart automatically and you should now have a fully unlocked and jailbroken iPhone 2G. iPhone 3G on the hand will only be jailbroken, not unlocked. iPhone 3G users will have to wait for Dev-Team to release ultrasn0w on Cydia in order to unlock their phones.
Step 9: Once you are done with the unlocking and jailbreak process. You can now restore all your settings, apps, music, contacts and photos to the newly installed firmware version 3.0 by restoring the backup that you made in Step 3 from iTunes.

Computer shuts down when connecting iphone

Try the latest itunes:

http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

- Quit iTunes if it's currently open.
- Visit Apple Downloads to see if there are newer versions of iPod Updater (this contains software for all models of iPod) and iTunes than what's installed on your computer.
- If there are newer updates available, download the Windows versions of the updates, then run the installers on your computer to install the updates.
- When it's finished, iTunes will already be updated, but you'll need to run the iPod Updater to update your iPod, so connect your iPod to your computer.
- On the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to iPod, point to iPod Updater, then click the latest iPod Updater.
- Click the Update button to update the software on your iPod (if the Update button appears unavailable, your iPod is already up to date).

If it still fails, remove the automatic restart from windows:

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System
Go to Advanced
Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...
Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"

Iphone not detected in itunes8.2.0

Hi, welcome to fixya! I've read a lot of blogs about itunes 8.2 which is the latest version of itunes. The problem is when you update your iphone firmware and when it restarted your iPhone will be locked up, so beware of that. Why don't you uninstall your updated iTunes and install the 7.6 version and run the process. If still nothing detected, if you are using PC computers transfer your USB connection at the back of your CPU, cause front and back connection has a power speed difference. Try it first before downgrading your iTunes to a 7.6 version.
