Question about Acer Aspire One AOA150-1570 Notebook PC
Whenever I record stuff on my webcam, there is no sound. I know it's not a volume issue cause volume works on other things like youtube and music. How can I fix my microphone? I saw your answer to someone else's question, but I didn't know where the "my computer" button was. Thanks! I just got an Acer netbook as well. The mic seems to be recognized throught the default Reltek audio software, but hardware tests on it, as well as attempts to use it on Skype, Me Beam and regular recording don't work. The microphone is simply not working. How do I fix this problem?
I had the same issue. This is what I found. It seems the Realtek audio and the Microsoft volume drivers are conflicting with each other. If you look at the bottom right (next to clock) you should see the usual grey speaker icon (Microsoft Master Volume controller) and you may also see a reddish speaker (Realtek audio) icon. This should indicate that both are controlling your audio.
If you click [start] - [run], type: msconfig and click [ok]. Click on [startup] tab at top. Look under startup item and uncheck: RTHDCPL then [apply], [ok] and restart your netbook. After it reboots the only audio icon that should appear is the grey speaker (microsoft master volume controller). Your mic should work now. Go to sound recorder and test. You may also need to upgrade to the lasted audio driver from the acer site but try shutting down Realtek first.

In control panel, click on Sounds and Audio Devices, click on the Voice Tab, Under Voice recording, click on volume --- make sure the mute box is not checked under microphone. If it is, uncheck it. A faster way to do this is to double-click the little speaker icon in your systray in the lower right corner of your screen - right before where the time is shown. If the mute box is unchecked, make sure your mic jack is fully inserted into the correct receptacle. DID THIS HELP YOU? Please post your feedback.

I had the same problem with acer aspire one on skype. click start-run and type msconfig. Go to startup tab and uncheck rthdcpl (or something similar) and restart as requested. That will fix your problem.
Now I downloaded 12voip that allows you to make free calls and the mic does not unmute. See, skype wants the mic muted whereas 12voip does not.
I am still looking for an answer on this one... Hope this helped...
