My microphone on my acer aspire one isnt working

Whenever I record stuff on my webcam, there is no sound. I know it's not a volume issue cause volume works on other things like youtube and music. How can I fix my microphone? I saw your answer to someone else's question, but I didn't know where the "my computer" button was. Thanks! I just got an Acer netbook as well. The mic seems to be recognized throught the default Reltek audio software, but hardware tests on it, as well as attempts to use it on Skype, Me Beam and regular recording don't work.  The microphone is simply not working.  How do I fix this problem?

I tried control panel and device manager and everything that is normally done to resolve problems like these.  This is the windows xp acer aspire one, by the way.

My Acer Aspire One A110 (!G/16G) has the same problem - the built in microphone doesn't work. If I plug in an external microphone it works fine. I checked in Control Panel and made sure the Voice Recording mute box is unchecked.

I had the same issue. This is what I found. It seems the Realtek audio and the Microsoft volume drivers are conflicting with each other. If you look at the bottom right (next to clock) you should see the usual grey speaker icon (Microsoft Master Volume controller) and you may also see a reddish speaker (Realtek audio) icon. This should indicate that both are controlling your audio.

If you click [start] - [run], type: msconfig and click [ok]. Click on [startup] tab at top. Look under startup item and uncheck: RTHDCPL then [apply], [ok] and restart your netbook. After it reboots the only audio icon that should appear is the grey speaker (microsoft master volume controller). Your mic should work now. Go to sound recorder and test. You may also need to upgrade to the lasted audio driver from the acer site but try shutting down Realtek first.

In control panel, click on Sounds and Audio Devices, click on the Voice Tab, Under Voice recording, click on volume --- make sure the mute box is not checked under microphone. If it is, uncheck it. A faster way to do this is to double-click the little speaker icon in your systray in the lower right corner of your screen - right before where the time is shown. If the mute box is unchecked, make sure your mic jack is fully inserted into the correct receptacle.  DID THIS HELP YOU?  Please post your feedback.

Hi,

I had the same problem with acer aspire one on skype. click start-run and type msconfig. Go to startup tab and uncheck rthdcpl (or something similar) and restart as requested. That will fix your problem.

Now I downloaded 12voip that allows you to make free calls and the mic does not unmute. See, skype wants the mic muted whereas 12voip does not.

I am still looking for an answer on this one... Hope this helped...

I HAVE BUILTED IN MIC ON MY COMPUTER AND WHEN I GET ON MY WEBCAM I CAN HEAR THE PERSON BUT THEY CANT HEAR ME SOLVE THIS

hi,

there could be multiple causes of this problem. to fix we need to proceed step by step.

1. try another microphone - try using an external microphone and see if it works. if yes then there could be an issue with the internal hardware of the mic and to fix it you need to contact acer authorised service center.
if an external mic also does not work then please proceed to step 2
2. check the volume settings - go to control panel and then sound and audio devices. click on the audio tab. please ensure that under the sound recording section the audio driver(for acer aspire realtek mostly) should be selected.
3. go to device manager and reinstall the audio drivers.
4. if this is a recent problem that has been reported then please perform a system restore to a backdate when the mic issue was not there.

please let me know if any of this helps else we can check out further options.

Skype video using Acer Aspire Mini Laptop camera?

If you have a WEB camera you need to configure your video Webcam settings. Open Skype click on Tools - Options - Video Settings - select your Webcam model. When you open Skype click on Tools - Options - Audio Settings and click on Microphone and select the microphone you are using and save the setting.
If you still have problems with your mic. then - To test if the microphone is working, go to Start - Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder and record you voice. Can you see your voice recording, the green line should vary as you speek.
If you see a flat green line, then the microphone is either faulty or the wrong microphone is selected.

My microphone on my acer aspire one isnt working

This solution works for the Windows XP version. Go to msconfig.exe, then the Startup tab. UNCHECK rthdcpl and restart. Realtek driver doesn't load, but who cares...the microphone works now.

My microphone on my acer aspire one isnt working

For Windows users with AOA 150-Bb model: Download Audio_Realtek_v.5.10.0.5772 (Size: 50.5 Mb) available at ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/netbook/aspire_one_150/driver/Audio_Realtek_v.5.10.0.5772.zip Installing it solves the problem, both builtin and external mics working correctly.

On AOA 150-Ab migrated to Windows XP Professional the Driver Audio_Realtek_5.10.0.5628_XPx86 (Size: 42.6 Mb) seems that works fine.

All drivers available at http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads_gd.html by selecting different models different drivers are shown also. (AOA 150 for v5.10.0.5628, AOD for v5.10.0.5767...)

LOGTECH WEBCAM

Hi Melissa,

to put that in cam microphone working, as I have an equal trade mark cam, you need to see on audio settings properties and change the "recording device" to usb device, instaid of the soundcard as is. that means that the sound recording goes to the cam's microphone.
the steps are:
1- rigth mouse click on the speaker next to the clock OPEN VOLUME CONTROL
2- OPTIONS - PROPERTIES - RECORDING
3 - in MIXER/RECORDING DEVICE (where is your soundcard's name) change to USB DEVICE and then OK
4- select MICROPHONE and the close the volume control windows
5- you can test the mic settings in messenger (any version) because of volume and to a clearest voice sound in your pc.

ATTENTION: carefull with the distance between your cam and your sound speakers because of distorcing sound and feedback

Webbcam works but no sound or microphone

First, make sure you have a webcam with a microphone, and run any test software the webcam came with to check and make sure it is *supposed* to work. Next, open SOUND PROPERTIES through the CONTROL PANEL and then from the menu go to ADVANCED and RECORDING and OKAY, to bring up a volume array that includes the control MICROPHONE. Then, dig around to make sure MICROPHONE is the input being selected for amplification, and try ADVANCED on MICROPHONE and turn on BOOST if it has this control. You can test whether all of this worked by opening SOUND RECORDER from ACCESSORIES and making a short recording of yourself cursing the machine and everyone who designs them. If it plays back normally, try your web camera again. If it still has no sound, the problem is in the settings of the web camera itself. Open whatever software it came with and check setting like MUTE and MICROPHONE VOLUME are set correctly.

Good luck...
