This advice is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model FRONT LOADERS displaying the “F02” error code.

“F02” is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a “SUDS” error may also be generated as a secondary error. This is an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:

  1. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
  2. Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
  3. Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.
To check the drain pump, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions.

If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump.

I have a Fisher Paykel GWL15 and it kept on getting stuck on the rinse cycle. Today it completely stopped in the middle of a load and will not power back on. I trouble shot all the possibilities and the...

When the penny jammed the pump the unit will stop working, when the pump cools down it should start working again, unless you have had this issue for a while. I would just replace the pump and install the fuse that comes with the pump now completely. You should not have any more issue if you complete the instruction that come with new pumps today.
Good Luck

Have Maytag 8700 washer and have replaced the drain pump, but still will not drain.

You probably have something stuck in the drian hose itself. Have seen many that a ball of lint with a dime, penny or five cents stuck in the middle of the hose.

Fisher & Paykel GW612 gets to rinse stage and doesn't drain properly. The drain pump gets rid of some water then cuts out for a couple of mins, then starts again. It does this 3 times before...

I recently had a similar problem and here is how I fixed it: Locate the drain pump. Connected to the outlet of the pump is a black rubber tube approximately 6" to 10" long and 1/2" in diameter. This tube is connected to a valve. The clamps holding the tube in place can be removed by hand. Take the clamps off and remove the tube. I found a penny stuck in mine near the valve end. How a penny made it through the pump and most of the way through the tube, I don't know, but I removed it, and the washer works as good as new. You might as well put a few drops of oil on each of the pump bearings while you are working on it.

Washer leaks badly at corner where hoses connect to draining; but I just can't see precisely where when run thru a cycle.

Problem solved. After wet-vacuuming the floor several times, took off the drain pump. Unscrewed the drain plug and found a "penny" in the chamber. The perimeter was badly and disfigured and looking like a train ran over it.

1st thot it created a pump wear stoppage. But after a time, I found the real problem: The penny flipping around the plastic chambe created a slice-looking hole on one of drain tube chambers on the side that could not be seen when installed.

New pump, no leaks.

3.5 super capcity front loader

The drain pump had $0.86 in it (three quaters, a dime and a penny), a gaurdian angel medal and a sock stuck in the pump inlet. It was easy to fix by removing the lower fromt cover (two srews), taking off the spring clamp on the hose at the front of the pump and removing the rubber trap hose thingy.
