Question about Durabrand PVS1966 Portable DVD Player

No Valid Disc

Our portable DVD player is now giving us an error message "no valid disc" even though the discs we are trying to watch are valid store bought movies. It is doing this no matter what disc we try to watch. Is there a way to fix this problem?

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, I could not find a disc lock option in the setup menu. It has Language, Video, Audio and Ratings headings. I looked in each, but did not find a "disc lock" option. Am I in the right place?

Try this out; Go to your DVD player's settings/setup menu, find the "Disc Lock", set it to "off" if it is already set to "on"

No valid disc message displayed. Disc is spinning.

When a DVD player starts doing that, it either needs to be cleaned, or something is going wrong with the DVD mechanism inside of it. You can purchase DVD lens cleaner from any large retail store that has an electronics section. However, if you clean it and the problem persists, it will likely be cheaper to replace the unit rather than trying to have it repaired unless you're under warranty in which case any repair or exchange will be covered by said warranty. If you call the manufacturer they will give you your full range of options.
I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Try cleaning the lens with a dab of rubbing alchohol and a q-tip. If error continues, throw unit in garbage.

No Valid Disc

I had tried cleaning the lens like most solutions said to do, with no luck. I tried what user gthumm said he/she tried, which was taking off the back of the player. Their problem was the white wheel (motor) and the next wheel (black) were not turning smoothly. He/she pushed the white wheel down until it snapped back in, allowing the wheels to turn. I tried it twice and finally, I have a working portable dvd player again! Yeah! Thank you so much gthumm and fix ya team! My kids especially thank you! You are the BEST!

I put the disc in the player ithen tries to play then it says disc not valid .

Same here!!! We've only used it maybe 8 or 9 times. And it's been worthless for the past month because of it. It reads everything "no valid disk" and nothing will work. And I tried e-mailing customer support several times, with no luck.
