I have had this problem over the last year or so only its gotten a lot worse recently. The battery died this weekend with the key in the ignition and the car wouldn't start or let me take the key out. My dad jumped me and we used a charger to trickle charge the battery overnight so I could drive to school. On the way to school these past two days my car has died four or five times. It's always when I'm slowing down and am near idle or turning. The battery light comes on and the power steering turns off so I pull over as best as I can and put it in park and restart it each time. It's happened at the same four way stop twice today. The car also seems odd around idle it seems to shake or vibrate a bit more, and I can feel it bogging down before it stalls out. It also has a bit of hesitation when I first step on the throttle. The ac has also been almost nonexistent these past few months unless I'm driving on the highway. Do I need to replace the battery or maybe clean the throttle body?
I am going to assume the check engine light is not on.
I would check the throttle body to see if it needs to be cleaned, and check the idle air control valve to see if it is working. The computer controls idle speed by the amount of air coming into the throttle body.
The ac problem is probably something different such as low freon or a cooling fan problem.

SOURCE: vibration when idling in drive
check your pulley's. Sounds like one of them are bad and causing movement which where the vibrations coming from. A friend of mine had the same problem, his was the fan pulley. It could be moved inward and outward a little but enough to cause the engine to vibrate. The bearings were going out. check it out and let us know what you come up with.

I would say it may be the distributor, I would start there first. You may want to try a tune up first to see if it helps and I would definitely get my battery checked out since winter is approaching and it has been run down a few times. hope this helps tim
