It is quite possible that you set has an optical failure. Since this is a new set I would advice you to take the advantage of getting the warranty replacement.
I dont think you must try to attempt any repair to this as the fault can recur if in the main board.
So my sincere advice is to seek the warranty before you even open the set.
Hope this advice helps as I could not chat with you.
Sound like it either has one or two problems, the door is stuck and or the door eject motor has failed. Look in the front to the player for a small paperclip like hole, and use a paper clip to manual eject the and engage the loading mechanism usually located under the door for most cases. Check you manuals troubleshooting section for manually ejecting a CD..
I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.
if the player will no longer read any commercial dvd that you attempt to play, the unit is defective and needs to be replaced. Hopefully, since it's brand new, you still have the receipt and can return it to the retailer for an exchange or refund. The unit has a 90 day warranty from the date of purchase. You would need the receipt in order to receive a warranty exchange.

What you're describing is a common problem for this particular unit, a bad spindle motor.
In some cases the motor can be removed by the tech and torn down for cleaning.. But in a high percentage of cases shops just replace the motor...
What's happening, as your symptom appears the spindle motor is beginning to spin irratically. In turn the picture can sometimes just drop out. In others it simply folds over and is unwatchable.
The spindle motor is not too expensive..
