Question about Nintendo Wii Console

1 Answer

All games have noise in the picture.

We've had the Wii several months and have had no problems.  Just recently have we experienced picture noise. We have tried to plug it into other video inputs but to no avail.  The DVD and VHS players all work well.  Suggestions?

Have you tried to clean the drive yet? If not, you can buy a drive cleaner at places like target, game crazy, or best buy. You need to buy a genuine NINTENDO brand cleaner though. They say that others may damage the disc drive and experts have backed this up. It is not just a marketing tool to get you to buy nintendo. I believe ours cost about 15 dollars.

If you can, borrow an AV cable from a friend, yours may be bad. If not then you may want to send it in for repair. A good place is www.videogame911.com. They are really fast with repairs and save the memory on the wii.

My wii is 5 months old turned off after playing went to turn back on to play and have sound but no picture

This is one common error that you can fix yourself instead of sending it to the repair shop. Try Easy and Complete Guide to Wii Repair. This guide is very helpful and contains all major problems related to Wii. It also has several pictures and instructions and would help you solve any problem very easily. Apart from all, it is very cost effective and you would save hundreds of dollars on Wii Repair Manual Good luck.

First, Check your wii adaptor, In normal conditions the wii adapter provides the output 12volt. You can test the output using multimeter or a 12volt lamp.

then
plug it into the outlet, If the light is still off/flashing, disconnect the AC Adapter unplug from the wall outlet, wait 2 minutes and plug it back into the outlet. Turn the console power ON.

hopefully this help..

Not used the Wii in several months. Now it will

I had a similar problem with our Wii, although Im not sure if its the same situation. We didnt use ours for awhile either but I still had it plugged in to the power strip. Unplug it from the power source and leave it unplugged for 5 mins or so. When I plugged it back in it powered on and worked fine. I got this off of nintendos support site, and I included the link here. I hope this helps.. Happy Gaming..

Have in built sound card in D845HV mother board. Experiencing heavy distortion as soon as the mic is connected. It was working well till last month.

Distorted or scratchy sound can be caused by several problems. Improving the sound can be as simple as rearranging your hardware components. The following suggestions may resolve the problem of scratchy sound:
  • Are there any other devices around the speakers or wires for the speakers? Electro-magnetic interference can cause poor audio. Try moving your speakers and wires around and away from other devices.
  • Have you recently added any new cards to your computer? Cards within the computer can also cause electro-magnetic interference. Try moving the card to another location within the computer, if possible.
  • Verify that you are not encountering a hardware issue with the speakers you have by trying another pair of computer speakers.
  • Poor audio quality or low volumes may occur if you are using passive (non-amplified) speakers.
  • Are your speakers too close to your monitor? The speakers can pick up electrical noise from your monitor so move them farther away. Subwoofers should never be placed near the monitor because their powerful magnets can interfere with the picture. They should be on the floor to maximize low-frequency transmission.
  • Are you experiencing sound problems only with particular games or programs? If you notice sound problems such as stuttering voices and static on some games or programs but not others, check with the software vendor for a software patch.

Also make sure to inspect your microphone, and the cord that connects it to your PC, for physical damage.

If you're still experiencing issues, you may need to replace the your microphone.

I hope this helps.
