I am not sure I can completely solve your issue but I can help you troubleshoot it.

You did not state how old the trouble child crockpot is so here are my suggestions.....

1. If it has any age at all or you use it frequently you may have stripped the inside of the knob. If it isn't making solid contact and you are turning.... you may be turning air.... thus not actually turning the crockpot up as high as you think you are. If it is an electronic control panel check into a calibration. Maybe somewhere down the road it has been jarred or something. I have never heard of a calibration being done but it might be worth a shot if it is not to old of a model. Just look/talk around.

2. The thermostat is bad or dirty. I am not sure where it is in your model because I haven't looked it up but that may be worth looking into. If the "stat" is not receiving the correct temp feedback it won't put out the correct heat to control your food temp.

I hope you find a solution... check these out and if you have any questions feel free to email me sparkyallen1@aol.com

Is this model of west bend crock pots oven safe? if so, to what oven degrees and with the lid on or off?

The Instruction Manual for your product is available here:

http://www.westbend.com/supportdata/L5531B_5-6Qt%20CrkryCookers_ALL.pdf

Under the section on Heat Precautions you will note:

Do not use the cooking pot or cover on the stovetop, under the broiler, in the freezer, or in the oven. You may use the cooking pot in the microwave oven, but do not place the glass cover in the microwave oven as it has a metal ring.

Sorry someone has not responded sooner.

I need a manual for a west bend 3qt 84114 slow cooker

what do you need to know, they are so basic that I don't even think they have a manual. Very strate forward . Check out some cook books, or a crock pot cook book, that will solve you needs, and teach you to cook at the same time. Happy cooking.

When I plug in my 84596 west bend it gives me eo1 with a beep

The E01 error message happened to me this morning. I unplugged the crock pot, held the "cook" button and plugged it back in while holding in the "cook" button. It seemed to reset itself. It is working fine now.
