Question about Alienware PC Systems Alienware Aurora High Performance Gaming Desktop Computer

Alienware Aurora desktop crashes on bootup

When we turn it on, it begins bootup and then power shuts down after 20-30 seconds. When we try again, it shuts down after about 5 seconds. If we wait a few minutes, it again works for 20-30 seconds and then shuts down. It is a three-year-old Aurora desktop. I have tried to boot from the recovery disk; no difference. It seems like it might be a fuse resetting and then blowing again, but that is just a guess. Any ideas?

It turned out the heatsink had come off the CPU. We have reattached it and it seems to be working, at least for now.

Sounds like a Memory issue. It defiantly a conflict somewhere. I would start with the memory. If you have two sticks installed, then remove one. If it does the samething, re install and then remove the other one.

My aurora which recently had its motherboard replaced has been shutting down seemingly at random. Sometimes when I'm watching hulu or playing a game.

It's probably heat-related -- start the Windows Task Manager, and minimize it, and then view HULU -- the CPU-meter probably will rise to 100% and stay there. The minimized Task Manager will be a small icon on the bottom-right of your monitor.

The "harder" the CPU works, the hotter it gets.

Be sure that the warm air leaving the back of your tower has some place to go -- don't back your tower directly into a wall, or put it tightly into a computer-desk.

Alienware Aurora Desktop does not boot, has no HD activity

If the activity light on the front of the tower is not glowing than it can be an issue with the power supply of the PC. Try to open the tower and try to reseat the Power supply cables and check.
You can also try to Reseat the RAM (memory) sticks. If you have 2 Memory stick you can just try to boot the pc with the help of one stick and vice versa. If still the issue persist you can try to do a test on the Motherboard. Simply take out the Memory cards and power on the pc . if you hear a beeping noise than the Motherboard is fine and if you dont hear a beeping noise that it is a faulty Motherboard.

Are there any beeps? Does anything come up on the screen?
Suspected powersupply fault if no beeps are emitted. Try a new powersupply but remember to adhere to wattage..

M9700 starts up but shuts down few minutes after vista loads

Sounds like it is a problem with the m9700 overheating. I have just repaired an m9700 with this exact issue and it was resolved by taking the CPU heatblock off, removing the dried/caked-on heat compound, and replacing it with my own (Arctic Silver 5).
Was 91c before, now down to 74c max on load (Measured with coretemp). Random crashing has stopped.
