Re: can't seem to turn it on, or how do you get it work?
Turn it on by pressing and holding the power button (on the top left of the device) till the display comes up. Do it with power attached if this has no effect. Also try pressing and holding the Home button. If still no effect you've got a more serious problem.
Charging from new should take about 16hrs. Any other time a charge from empty should only take about 2 or 3 hrs. Minimum charge from empty is 10mins. For more info on apple batteries goto www.Apple.com/batteries.
For more info on the iTouch refer to your manuals. If you have misplaced them goto http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipodtouch

Try restoring it. Instructions are in the restore section of your iPod. If you restore it, don't update the iPod, because it seems that the update made your iPod unresponsive. It should be fine then. Good Luck!
Generally in the itunes store under requirements it tell you that the application is compatible with either iphone, ipod touch or ipad. You should note that the ipod touch is what you seem to call the itouch.
Apple seems to be having a issue with this upgrade and no help to its user (of course) as of yet. What seems to be working for some is perform a wireless reset you'll have to re-enter your WEP key. In doing so it should reset both your Bluetooth at the same time your WIFI connection. Hope it helps. But up till now theres no solution to this problem from the upgrade stand point From Apple.
If the iPod will not turn off, try to reset it. Press and hold the
Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten
seconds, until either the Apple logo or battery symbol appears. If the
battery symbol appears, continue to charge iPod touch until it is fully
It seems like you will have to restore it which i have researched and
seems to be the only way, this will sadly erase all content so if you
are willing to put back your music/videos etc.. back, then go for it
you do this by
1) Connect the iPod Touch
2) Press and hold sleep+home until the device reboots.
3) Keep holding until that "please connect me to iTunes"-screen appears
4) iTunes says something about having detected a touch in recovery mode. Allow it to do its thing.
If you get the -18 error, proceed:
5) Disconnect the iPod Touch
6) Close iTunes
7) Reconnect the iPod Touch
8) iTunes launches and shows message as in step 4, but this time, the recovery will work
Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
If that doesn't work, turn off iPod touch and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPod touch for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't work, reset iPod touch. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If iPod touch continues to freeze or not respond after you reset it
Reset iPod touch settings. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. All your preferences are reset, but your data and media are left untouched.
If that doesn't work, erase all content on iPod touch. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > "Erase All Content and Settings." All your preferences are reset, and all your data and media are removed from iPod touch.
To reset the iPhone or iPod Touch, press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously at the same time for at least ten seconds, then the LCD display will clear and the Apple logo appears on the black background. When Apple logo appears, reset is done.
