I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

Unfortunately, if the unit is charged and not coming on, or not staying on, it is defective and needs to be replaced. The unit has a 90 warranty from the date of purchase. You will need the receipt in order to receive a warranty replacement.

As fas as how to get songs onto the player, please see below.

How to load an MP3 player without using Windows Media Player.

First, allow me to clarify a few things so that there is less confusion: When you connect an mp3 player to a computer, you will not be able to use it until it's disconnected. In other words, the only thing you should do while the player is plugged into the computer is adding or deleting files. You can't use the buttons on the player while it's communicating with the computer, and as long as it's connected to the USB port, it's communicating. Ok, let's get started!

Step 1

Connect the player to your USB port using the cable that came with it. (NOTE): If the player has a male USB connector already on it, connect the player directly into the computer without using the cable. In other words, only use a cable if you have to.

Step 2

Click the "Start" button or press the key on the keyboard that has the Windows logo, and go to My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Vista).

Step 3

Locate your MP3 player on this screen. Do not close this window; just minimize it. (NOTE): It should show up under Devices with Removable Storage or as a device under "Other." Most importantly, it should show up on this screen as something! When the player is connected, you should have something on this screen (usually an icon of some sort) that represents the player. This lets you know that the unit is ready to receive files because it's being recognized by your computer.

Step 4

Locate and open the folder that contains your music files.

Step 5

Using the mouse, copy one or more files. (Right mouse click on file, then left mouse click on copy)

Step 6

Go back to the "My Computer" or "Computer" screen, right mouse click on the icon representing the player and left mouse click on paste. You should see a small status bar appear showing the file(s) being copied from your music folder to the player.

Step 7

Click on the Safe to Remove icon found in your system tray and disconnect the player.

And that's it! If you need additional assistance, I will help in any way that I can.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

My Coby MP-610 won't open coby media manager.

1. Did your unit comes with Coby Media Manager? THere are two versions of this unit, one comes with and one doesnt. You can usually tell, if your unit came with an Installation CD, then it doesnt use Coby Media Manager

2. To access CMM - Start > My Computer> Double click the removable disk drive that looks like a 'C' with a big red circle, follow prompts to open Coby Media Manager.

3. IF you somehow formatted or deleted it, you can download a new copy from here:

I need some instructions on how play it

1. Use Windows Media Player to put songs on your Coby MP3 player. Download songs in MP3, WMA, or OGG format from a legal downloading website. If the file is not one of the previously mentioned files, you must download a converter to convert the file to one of the correct files that can be played on Windows Media Player. Rip a song from a CD by inserting the CD and then click on the option to "Rip" the song to your library. Some Coby MP3 players do not need Windows Media Player to add songs, so be sure to check your user manual to see if there is an even simpler method.
2. Connect your Coby MP3 player to your computer using the USB connector that came with your MP3 player. The player will show up under the "Devices" option on your Window Media Player application.
3. Click on the "Library" option to view all of the songs stored on your Windows Media Player library. You can drag the song to the MP3 player in the "Devices" section, or you can right-click on the song and choose the option to transfer the song. In the pop-up box choose your MP3 from the drop-down menu and then click on the "Transfer" button.
4. Right-click on the MP3 player in Windows Media Player and choose the "Eject" option. Disconnect your MP3 player from your computer and turn it on. The song will now be available on your MP3 player. Press the bottom button to play or pause the song.
5. Add videos and pictures to your Coby MP3 player if it supports those files. The process is similar to transferring audio files. Plug your MP3 player into your computer. Open the photo file on your computer and drag pictures into the player. You can create folders to organize the pictures.

When the firmware inside the Coby 610 becomes corrupt, it doesn't communicate with your computer properly, so your computer can't see it.

Replacing the firmware in your mp3 player should have it working like new again.

Hello,

If your adding music to the device and its not playing, its because your audio files are not the correct format. This unit only plays MP3 audio or Uncopyrighted Windows Media Audio files. You can test this by connecting the MP3 player, copy one of the sampe audio files under 'My Music' location on your computer and paste it on your mp3 player. It will play the audio fine.

How to play: Hold in play button until red ligh is steady, then press Play again to start the audio.

Make sure you remove any audio file that is not the correct format.

to check format of song:

right click the song, go to properties, under properties it will say 'Type of File', make sure this says MP3, thats the safest way to go.
