What do i do - my iMac 2011 won't turn on - I just hear a whiring sound every so often

Hi Noelle

Probably a bit late now.... but for others
Determine if Hardware Problem or Software.
Remove all peripheral plugs. Just in case of bad shorted device.
Restart & hold Cmd Shift Option Delete keys down. 4 Keys
Resets Parrameter Ram. Eg Clock & mouse settings.
But might help.
Reboot with Shift key Held down. (Safe Boot)
Does it boot up?
Boot with Option key down & choose "Recovery" startup just to prove hardware (CPU) is working.
Internal Hard Drive may be damaged!
Plug another Bootable drive into USB or FireWire Port and reboot with option key held down.
If you can get your Mac to boot.... Install a clean OS X onto a USB memory Stick (16 or 32gb)
Keep this for Booting Problems & Emergency Booting & access to repair software e.g. Apple Disk Utility
or My Favorite Utilities
Bootable Backup Software

I have an Acer Aspire 5332 and the CD-Rom/DVD Drive (Optiarc DVD RW AD-7580S ATA Device) is not working properly...every time I put a disk of any kind (i.e CD/DVD/Game) it doesnt recognize it and load

Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

hope this helps you

KEEP GETTING E74 ON MY XBOX360 TRIED RESETTING COMPUTER WORKS FOR ONE HOUR THEN GRAPHICS DISTORT THEN RED LIGHT THEN MESSAGE E74 HAD CONSOLE FOUR FIVE YEARS

Sounds like a hardware problem. Turn off the Xbox and remove the hard drive, then turn it back on. If you get still get the message, or red ring, then it's not the hard drive. If that didn't work make sure the A/V cable is hooked in securely. If you have a different A/V cable try that one and see if you still get the message. If you do then it's a problem with the hardware and will need repaired. There are several DIY websites for repairing an Xbox but you will need some tools. Or you can contact microsoft and see if you can still get it repaired for free.
