Remove the adapter when the battery is fully charged, you do not need to have the adapter connected all the time.

Hp etc recommend that you don't leave your power plugged in when a battery is fully charged and that if you are not using your laptop for some time you leave the battery with no more than about 10% charge in it. but this is only to prolong the life of the battery, not because of concerns of overheating the psu. as long as you sit the psu on somthing hard (not the bed or the carpet) you wont have any worries with the psu overheating - they do get quite hot in normal use. if you really want to take good care of your laptop never operate it on your lap - always use somthing solid to sit it on so it can keep itself cooled properly, always annoys me that they call them laptops - aside from dropping them overheating is the number one cause of failure.

Hi,
I highly recommending to buy it form Dell.com so that you are covered by the warranty. Some 3rd party batteries do not give good after sales service. Just my 2 cents.

Rv510 plugged in but no lights on my laptop

You need to check all of these: 1. External charger, 2. Battery, 3. Internal charger, 4. Software. First, check if the battery is fully charge (or more than 80% charged). Second, use a tested good working battery charger/ac adapter to test your ac adapter (go to local electronic stores and test your laptop with their ac adapters). Third (if your ac adapter and your battery are good), then check your Power Options (click Help and search "power option" if you don't know where it is). If the Power Options is ok, then your motherboard (internal charger) has a problem. You need to bring your laptop to trusted local laptop repair shop.

In dell vostro 1510 laptop, when adapter is connected to laptop it showing "plugged in, not charging"

is battery already fully charged? Most of laptops disharge the battery while connected with AC adapter, they do not keep the charge at 100%.

If the battery is fully charged when i plug the charger stopped charging or not in Lenovo z560 ?

Welcome to FixYa

When the battery is fully charged and you still have the ac adapter plugged in then the battery would no longer be charged. The computer would then be running on ac adapter power.

hope this helps

I need to know how to use my new laptop battery correctly.

The first time you charge the battery allow 12 to 16 hours, after that 2 to 4 hours or when battery is charged. If you go on battery frequently drain it right down before charging it, this will give the maxi-um performance and longevity.

I am not getting battery backupfor my laptop(sony vaio model).please solve my problem.my mobile no is 8985151070

First of all remove the battery , clean the contacts of the battery and the laptop. Drain the battery off after using the laptop and once it has shut off , use the adapter to charge till the battery has fully charged. Repeat the process for three times , finally keep the adapter ON to keep charging overnight. Open power settings/options ( control panel) and use the power saver option in the program.
If however the battery does not last then it is time to replace with an original one.. check for manufacturing date which must not exceed 3-6 months as battery lying in shelf for a longer period develop reverse polarity and effect their life span..

Laptop suddenly shut off and will not turn back on

Sometimes the voltage regulator in the battery hit a point where they fall below a certain efficiancy % they have to operate at. Once they fall below that % you must replace them, even if the battery is 100% charged. Its usually a good idea to pick up a new charger as well with a new battery since they are known to die as well. Make sure you check the socket in the back where your charger plugs into the laptop to make sure its not loose or cracked. Sometimes the plug will crack off the motherboard and not make good enough contact.. But regardless of that it should atleast turn on if the battery was charged and good. Best bet, new battery. Every 2 years you should get a new one.
