NO cooktops will fire (ge monogram). All sparks stopped at once.

This cooktop is only a year old. The gas is working just fine. I've also checked the breaker, the power at the outlet, and confirmed power in the unit's chord; it is getting electricity fine. But my wife and I came home one night and none of the sparks even try to ignite (no typical sound).

I'm really hoping I not going to have to pay a technician after 12 months on a brand new GE appliance.

Can you guess what's wrong, what we've done wrong, and what I could do to check or fix the problem?

The problem is the spark module has gone bad. See this post for a similar electronic ignition cooktop for tips on how to solve your problem:

BOILING WATER SPILLED OVER FROM POT INTO COOKTOP AND NOW IGNITOR KEEPS CLICKING

Hi, water is a great conductor of electricity. It is likely nothing to be concerned about in this case though, if you light the burners and allow the water to burn off/evaporate from the ignitors it should be fine. It happens all the time with gas ranges and cooktops. Once the ignitors are dry they will stop conducting/sparking unwanted. Hope that helps calm your concern. Thanks for coming to "fixya" for your solution. Please take a second after reading this to rate the info provided to you. Good luck. Macmarkus :)

One burner requires a match to light

had same problem. Used fine sandpaper on the little head (just above the white ceramic) that creates the spark. over the years the edges of the littel metal ring had gummed up but a 1 min sanding got it down to shinny metal and it sparked nicely.

Igniter issue for monogram gas cooktop

Be sure all caps are on correctly, then make sure the igniter is clean. Try using a tooth brush with soft scrub around the igniter, rinse, dry and try it
