Roaster Oven-How to

I have a 12 qt. nesco roaster oven and was wondering how to use it. Am I supposed to put water in the bottom of it and then stick the black removable part on top of that? I'm Lost:) Any help would be great.

The knob on the roaster oven was broke off, when we took it out of the box.

I would suggest that you contact the people who supplied you with the roaster, and ask for a replacement.
After all, it will be under guarantee.

I am usind a rival roaster oven for the first time and their was no instructions in the box and I have never used one before so I am not sure how to go about it.

Hello we were just in a chat session and I told you it would be ok to use foil in the oven but it is not. According to Rival it is not ok because it can make the temp in the oven go over 500 degrees. and the temp in the oven should not go over 500 degrees so you can mess up your oven. Get a cooking bag from the store really quick if you can. Please do not use foil.

I need an owner's manual for a very old Westinghouse roaster/oven my mom had that is at least 60 yrs old. I want to understand how to use it - not just for cooking a turkey. Please help me or tell me how...

This site has a Roaster Identification guide, and downloadable manuals for several different models. I just spent the better part of the day on the same search you were, and lucked across this one. I'm sure it'll solve your problem. Happy Holidays!

Canning kettle

I have used a 8 qt. pressure canner (which holds 4 qt) and have done beans and venison. It also holds quarts. I also use an 8 qt. faberware kettle that holds 5 or 6 pint jars with a metal spacer from my pressure canner on the bottom. No problems for 10 years......except my self cleaning oven doesn't work but I don't think that has any thing to do with the canning on top. The bottom of the kettle has to be SMOOTH and FLAT so a regular canner (blue, ribbed bottom) won't work. Burner will come on and off.

Re: oven

the temp probe ( rod sticking out of rear wall inside oven ) should ohm out at 12-1300 ohms at room temp. the other possible cause is the heat relay on the control board is bad .this does not display a fault code.
