Something has become stuck in the drain pump.
1. Remove the back cover. The drain pump is in the lower left corner.
2. Tilt machine forward for easier access.
3. Unplug the pump motor power plug.
4. Loosen the hose clamp from the tub.
5. Remove the drain hose connection from the pump.
6. Remove the three screws securing the pump to the tub.
7. Remove debris from pump.
8. Replace pump.
9. Merry Christmas...

Makes buzzing noise and won't spin or drain

Sounds like something is stuck in the drain pump.  If nothing is stuck in the pump replace the pump.  It won't spin until it drains, so fixing the drain problem will fix the spin.  You can get at the drain pump by taking off the bottom panel.

Our washer is making a grinding noise when the washer drains and when the tub spins any ideas what it might be. Washer seems to work fine just making that noise during a drain and spin cycle.

This sounds like you may have something caught in the drain pump. One of the most common items to get stuck in there is a woman's bra wire. Check it out.

Started a load of laundry water filled fine started washing and agitating and then heard a weird noise like something got stuck and went and it sounds like motor is running but will not agitate or spin and...

Please give a make and model of washing machine. I suspect that something has stripped out between the motor and the transmission, which is the noise you heard.

Does it sound like a bearing noise or more a grinding noise. Could something maybe be stuck in the drain pump. When does it actually make the noise?
