It seems that,
there is no problem with Itunes but you have problems with your OS and hardware compability.
so make sure, you have no viruses in your computer for that run full scanning using updated antivirus software and run spybot for spyware (http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html) and spybot is on of the best search and destroy software for hidden caches and spy ware and other related problems.

once you are done both of above ones then restore your OS using same disk (which is currently running) or recovery disk.
for that:
insert your disk in dvd/cd drive
click on start>run then type in "sfc /scannnow" (there is space between SFC and /) without quotes and hit enter.
i takes couple of minutes to restore your all settings back as it was in new.
Be sure, this procedure changes nothing (files, folders etc) it just restores all broken or missing settings of OS.
and install back your Itunes and rip it.
if still remains problem, that means your hardware is not passing proper information to OS or OS is not supporting what Hardware is asking for.

in this case, you need to try swapping your OS once.

and what about your Original Os?
i mean, your Laptop came in with Vista OS or was upgraded later on XP to vista.
and which version of vista OS are you using currently?
becasue vista has many issues with many software and hardware so it would be better if you post back if above mentioned does not resolve your problem.

Thank you.

First thing to do is, restore your program, using this link http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/?ipod&sr=ipodstart click download,, then proceed this procedure,, it is very effective my dear, ive try it already.. 1)If you are on dialup (ONLY dialup) and your ISP has "web acceleration" software (such as Net Zero, ect) turn it off.

2)Do you have any McAfee products on your system (most esp. "Privacy Service")? Try disabling them one by one (anti virus last). Still no go, try uninstalling them.

3)Popup blockers. Turn them off.

4)Firewalls? Try disabling them to see if that is the problem. ( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93434 ).

5)If you have a proxy that requires authentication (password) you will be unable to access the store.

6)Set the date/time & time zone correctly on your system.

Make a safe backup of your data, and do a full system reinstall, using the Dell tools.

After this reinstall all your software and I tunes.

If the network is OK (you use your own router and line), then the above solution will work.

I am assuming you are running Windows XP on Service Pack 2 if you go to the windows update support site and update to Service Pack 3 the issue was resolved.

open the Windows Registry by clicking start>run and typing regedit then pressing enter and navigate to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

Then delete the keys named UpperFilters and LowerFilters and then reboot.

Fully uninstall itunes, uninstall it from add or remote programs

start -> control panel -> add or remove programs -> find itunes and uninstal.

Now we need to remove the rest of itunes files installed on the computer
Do a search -> start -> search -> look in all hard drives

in the search field type in itunes and search

Right click and delete any itunes folders and files you may find.

    now install itunes again.

I am trying to import music from my computer library to my ipod. Everytime I click on "import playlist" and choose my song, itunes freezes and closes. When I go back to itunes, the song is still...

Do you have the latest version of iTunes? Check their website www.apple.com and click the iTunes tab at the top. From there, you can download the latest iTunes and you can try to import your playlist again.

I, not a fan of iTunes, am using a different program that functions like iTunes. You might want to check www.mediamonkey.com or www.copytrans.net Just a disclaimer, though it works for me (mediamonkey / copytrans), it might not be everyone's cup of tea. I will not be held responsible if anything happens to your ipod and/or pc. Please try at your own risk. :)

How to download a music cd onto the nano ipod

install iTunes on your computer if not already done so. open iTunes. put the CD in your CD drive of your computer - iTunes will ask if you want to add this CD to your library. Choose yes. plug your ipod nano into your computer USB while iTunes is still open and you see it appear as a device in iTunes. highlight the songs you just added to your library (choose Recently Added on left hand side then highlight them on right hand side) and then drag them onto the ipod device in left hand side. songs will be transferred to ipod.

Software update frozen at Running iTunes Installer script

Try turning off the computer, reboot, go to start choose defragment, defraging can take a long time, I defrag at night, if after defraging, it still will not work, you don't have enough memory, try compressing programs and files you don't use much and you might want to get an external zip driver to put your music on. You can purchase one at any computer or office supply store, music takes up a lot of memory.

ITunes dumping music

I would un install itunes completely and just re download it from the apple website and the latest version should fix the issue.

Might be that your itunes library is corrupted so before you install the newest one if you go to music and open the itunes folder and delete the library files that or go to macintosh hd --> users --> your username --> music --> itunes --> delete all library files

if you need more help post back and I will help further.
