Question about ION Audio iTTUSB Turntable

USBTT Continued Problem

I sent an email to you guys, mistakingly saying that your techs helped fix my problem. In fact, the USBTT does not work and has never worked. After installing the EZ Vinyl program dozens of times, nothing works. On the volumes meters, there are no registerd indications when I place the needle onto the album. However, If there noise in the room, the meters will register. Kind of backwarks, right?

Anyway, either get someone to help me fix it or I will send it back to you for a refund.

It sounds like to you need to adjust your System Preferences.  You're obviously picking up noise through a microphone on your computer.  See the solution to the problem about not hearing the songs after recording them.  There I explain what the proper System Preference settings should be.

Viscous damping has failed

There is. No one can say, as you forgot to tell us what model TT you have.

Actually, I think you would do well to search Sony turntable forums and/or ask Sony.

Best bet is to take it to a repair guy who knows turntables and have him fix it and then go over it - lubrication, belt, cartridge alignment, etc.

Tone arm retracts before recording is complete (CR-245)

actual old units (not sure about modern nostalgics) sometimes had a lever that said 7 or 12 inches for 45's or 33's this would tell the mechanism when to set down the arm. If your unit does not have something like this then it sounds like an internal failure that would require it being opened by a tech or sent in for warranty repair.

Pitch control adjustment for Pioneer CDJs??

Your best option is to get a hold of the service manual for this model. Which is available HERE. It tells you how to align, calibrate, disassemble, and clean the unit. As well as assorted schematics and diagrams you'll need in order to troubleshoot issues with the unit.

Now, just because you've master the 1200s, doesn't mean that this beast is just as easy. It's not. This is COMPLETELY different than an analog turntable like the 1200s. You have to be cautious with ESD, the Laser, and an assortment of other fragile components on this unit.

So, I say, experiment on your own gear, this way you won't mess up a customer's unit. Or buy yourself a used, damaged unit, and work on re-building that one. It's the only way your going to learn.

Hope this helps some.

It's an SL-B202

The belt wraps around the bottom of the metal turntable platter. Put the platter back on, then rotate the platter so that you can see the motor. Pinch the belt around the motor, and that's it. If it's too big, then the belt you ordered is too big. You have to get the correct size. Not just any size belt will work. If it doesn't fit, you'll have playing issues, and you'll wear out your motor, records, and styli very quickly.

Hum on right channel

It doesn't really sound like this tech knew what he was doing. He probably connected the ground wire incorrectly. I would also suggest opening up the tonearm base section, and checking to see the work he did. Perhaps he did not solder the RCA leads correctly.

If all is good, then there are only 2 other things which may cause this... 1) Tonearm, 2) Cartridge. You'll have to check those 2 out.

FYI, I work on 1200s for a living, so I know these machines inside out.
