Water and electronics are not compatible. that said, engineers are trying to find ways to insulate electronic from accidental water exposure.
The phone may appear dry on the outside, but i guarantee you there is still water on the inside. There may also be residue from the water making odd electronic connections and shorts never intended. I urge you to dry your phone thoroughly
Use a hair dryer on low setting and let it dry and heat up the interior of the phone to evaporate the water. Of course turning your phone on so soon after the incident may have doomed it, but most batteries are at 3.2 volts and components can withstand up to 7.5 volts before damage.
So dry it out, and good luck. If you have a warranty on the phone, let the geeks worry about it.
In this kind of situation, immediately remove the battery when it falls into water. Now if you didn't do this, there could be a possibility of damages of some components due to short circuit. The best step to do is to get it repaired from a repairing shop near you.
Take the battery out and let all of the components inside the cell phone dry out, then try powering it up, never power up a wet phone this will certainly cause damage to it. I had mine go through the washer (believe it or not!) and I let it dry out for several days and it worked fine afterwards. Good luck to you!
the little square that you are referring to is a liquid damage indicator, it will change it's color if the phone is exposed to any kind of liquid or moisture.
How long did you leave it in the rice? you did remove the battery and cover during this right? You should leave it in minute rice for 24-36 hours up to 3-4 days.
I had the same problem, when download came up i charged my phone. then i took out the battery and put back in and turned on. it worked but some buttons did not. so i pressed hard till it could recieve it and it did and now its fixed!
well that means you have liquid damage and you have voided your warranty on your device. Your only option is to buy a new phone or take advantage of insurance if you have it!
