Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Dell 600M laptop. After a few minutes of being on, screen goes fuzzy (horizontal and vertical lines). This is usually preceded by the laptop getting very hot. The process is accelerated when video is playing. If I operate the laptop very close to a fan, it works fine. I have tried connecting an external monitor and the fuzziness shows up on the second monitor too. Thanks so much!

I have a thin horizontal line across my dell latitude laptop screen

If the thin line is always there, you have a set of pixels burned out. This usually occures vertically. There is easy fix, except to replace the screen. If the laptop is under warrenty, contact the manufacture for repair options.

Sorry could not be something easier for you.

Dell Inspiron Screen Shake

sorry, can't tell you "no cost fix".

Either you've got a motherboard-screen cable failure(harsh, but not too bad) or you're
video card is fritzing. The green/grey line usually indicated a line break in a data line of the monitor cable. The fuzzy shaking is an indication that one of the sync signals may also be compromised.

To eliminate the video card as the problem... plug a monitor into the external video port, and see if the error is ghosted there.

If this doesn't work, Dell actually has some pretty good tools for you to use in troubleshooting it for yourself. The troubleshooter page begins here. There is a good video of using dell's built-in-to-laptops LCD screen test utility here.

Hope it helps you.

Laptop with Fuzzy Screen

It sounds like your video card is overheating.

Try getting one of the laptop coolers from bestbuy or other store. They separate the laptop from the table, allowing more air to flow and cool it. The good ones even have a fan to help it.

Good luck!

Horizontal White Line

Sounds like something is getting hot causing voltage loss or drive pulse loss to the vertical IC. Maybe you have a bad solder joint. Try tapping the circuit board around the vertical section. A capacitor could be heating and opening up. Stargazer Also you might try using circuit cooler spray and make the problem show up.
