I found out that the switch on the back was in the wrong position.

If your remote does not work make sure the switch on the back is in the correct position for your sony remote control. Everybody checks and replaces the batteries first thing.

Hi...
Is there an LED that blinks on the remote when you try to use it?
If not , make sure the batterys are fresh and in the right way.
If nothing works on it , there are places on-line that sells replacements cheaper than Sony

E Motion LCD TV Model X26/29E won't turn on - seems stuck in standby (red light on). Remote control is OK.

My sisters e-motion lcd tv is locked in, standby mode. I think that replacing the psu (power supply unit) is the answer. but be careful of introducing static damage to the components as you can cause latent component damage and then future repair is not so easy to locate! always make sure that you fault find using the proses of elimination ie start from the begining !! Make sure you have a 240v supply going in and then probe for your outputs.. If your out put measurements are ok then you can eliminate your power supply unit as your problem circuit .....

Sony kv36xbr800 won't turn on -standby blinks 2 times pls help

Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.

Tv tcl-14175 no sound on channels but ok on audio video mode

Hi

The first problem was always standby mode.... get back the original eprom IC 24CO8WP in to the PCB, then find the original remote control of you TCL Tv tcl-14175 then you power On In the Remote control while your TV is in Standby mode! then you see your tv is going ON... Because your unit is in Child lock Mode....

thanks!

problem solved by looking past the inseparable remote control and indexing the channel button on the unit. Fiddling with remotes can be a real waste of time.

turn the power on. to get rid of the red light you need to press the timer/rec button on the remote until it turns off. the red light means it is programed to record.

TV Switches itself back to standby mode continuously

if your remote is ok then this is due to power supply failure in your tv. either it is loose in oscillator ckt in switching section or it has failed. if not tech person call tech to fix it. not a major problem.

Unit turns itself on in standby mode

This can be a very irritating problem. Happened to me too. The only thing to do is after you turn off the unit with the remote, go to the unit and physically turn off the power to the unit with the manual Power on/off switch on the left side of the unit. Nothing else works.
