Wireless XBox controller won't sync with the PC adapter

So I have wireless Xbox controller and I got a wireless PC adapter but I can't get the thing to sync up. The controller works on the Xbox and the adapter seems to working. The adapter will flash and I'll try and sync the adapter but the controller just flashes, doesn't sync.

I installed the software, updated it, things should sync up but they don't.

Any suggestions?

I also can not get the receiver to sync with the controller on my PC, I also checked the compatability with VISTA and XP and I have no problems in this regard. I have all the recent updates the controller just keeps blinking and even after pushing the reset and the the receiver button , still no luck.

    Anyone have the answer??

yeah dont do it.. i have kinda the same problem..i did it and it connected but now the controller wont work on my xbox.. lol anyone know how to fix that??

  • Anonymous Jan 11, 2009

    Yep. same problem.

The controller and receiver work fine on my other PC but not the one I want to play games on so I have good reason to believe the controller is working fine. Both PC's have Win XP Service Pack 2. I tried deleting the USB ports in Device manager but when all was rebooted and re-installed, the same problem exists, On my PC, the receiver is being detected in Device Manager but is not coming up in the Game Controllers window within Control Panel. Mmmmmmm????????

I finally found a solution that works for me (most of the time). I bought a USB hub (un-powered at the moment) and the problem seems to have disappeared. The Hub however isn't the solution. Running the controller or the hub from the rear motherboard ports is.
I was initially using the 360 wireless receiver from the front ports on the PC which are driven by a different circuit on the motherboard than those from the rear of the PC.
When the receiver is run from the rear ports or in my case a hub powered from the rear ports it works most of the time.
Ocassionally the receiver doesn't link with the 360 controller however unlike last time when pressing all kind of combinations of re-sync buttons did nothing, all I do now is press the very tiny white button on the front of the controller and it links up like it should within 1.5 seconds.
I hope this helps guys as the controller is great when working.
Cheers
Karl

There's a little button on the front of your 360 and the same button is on the front of the controller. You hit the button on the 360 and the green lights around the power button start to circle. Then you hit it on your controller and the green lights around the xbox guide button start to circle. In a second or two they'll find each other and both will flash at the same time, and it's synced up. I think there's a little symbol of air waves next to the button.

hope this helps.

Wireless controler won,t connect to consol

I'm sure you have tried most of these steps but I'm going to list them any way. So we have a complete picture of the trouble shooting process.

1. Sync system first (By pressing the sync button on the system)
2. Right after you hit the sync button on the system, hit the button on the controller

Try replacing the battery's and or rechargeable battery for the controller. Repeat the sync process above.

Try another controller with your xbox or try your controller with a different xbox. Repeat sync process above of course.

If another controller works with your system than that would indicate that there is an issues with your xbox controller.

If your controller works with another xbox and no other controllers work with your xbox than there is a issue with your console.

For issues related to the xbox I would suggest contact xbox directly by calling 1800 my xbox.

I hope the info listed above has helped in some way.
If possible please rate this solution.

Xbox wireless controller lights keeps blinking but

If the ring of light keeps blinking, it means that the remote controller was not connected to a receiver which is the XBox 360 console. Try to press the connect button on the console and the wireless controller to sync them together.

My Xbox 360 wont sync any of my wireless controllers and the powe

if your wireless controllers wont sync to your xbox, it could be one of 2 things.

assuming your batteries are fully charged, and that you're using a certified xbox controller, it could be that the controller itself. it is really rare that the wireless receiver inside the xbox itself, goes out, but soemtimes, it happens.

the easiest thing or you to do would be to either pick up an after market controller, or another certified controller, and see if they'll work. if you try other controllers, and they STILL dont work, verify that your system settings are correct, or are set to default, and make sure that your xbox isnt sitting close to something that could be interfering with the signal....like a wireless router for example

if this doesnt work, then it's a problem with the xbox, and you should send it back to the service repair center.

I have the original xbox. I also have the gamestop wireless controller. The thing is the light comes on the adapter when i turn on the controller but none of the buttions work.

There is probably a small reset button on the bottom of the adapter, you should press that button and most likely the start button on the controller to sync it up.

Try this:

hook them up using the play-and-charge usb cable

Then, disconnect the cable.

they should stay synchronized and worked fine after that.

Unable to connect xbox 360 to Guitar HeroWT Wireless Drums/Guitar

pmac92,
Did you sync your guitar and drums first? They are just like a normal xbox 360 wireless controller, you need to sync them.
