So I have wireless Xbox controller and I got a wireless PC adapter but
I can't get the thing to sync up. The controller works on the Xbox and
the adapter seems to working. The adapter will flash and I'll try and
sync the adapter but the controller just flashes, doesn't sync.
I installed the software, updated it, things should sync up but they don't.
Any suggestions?
I finally found a solution that works for me (most of the time). I bought a USB hub (un-powered at the moment) and the problem seems to have disappeared. The Hub however isn't the solution. Running the controller or the hub from the rear motherboard ports is.
I was initially using the 360 wireless receiver from the front ports on the PC which are driven by a different circuit on the motherboard than those from the rear of the PC.
When the receiver is run from the rear ports or in my case a hub powered from the rear ports it works most of the time.
Ocassionally the receiver doesn't link with the 360 controller however unlike last time when pressing all kind of combinations of re-sync buttons did nothing, all I do now is press the very tiny white button on the front of the controller and it links up like it should within 1.5 seconds.
I hope this helps guys as the controller is great when working.
Cheers

There's a little button on the front of your 360 and the same button is
on the front of the controller. You hit the button on the 360 and the
green lights around the power button start to circle. Then you hit it
on your controller and the green lights around the xbox guide button
start to circle. In a second or two they'll find each other and both
will flash at the same time, and it's synced up. I think there's a
little symbol of air waves next to the button.
hope this helps.

Will not sync.
I also can not get the receiver to sync with the controller on my PC, I also checked the compatability with VISTA and XP and I have no problems in this regard. I have all the recent updates the controller just keeps blinking and even after pushing the reset and the the receiver button , still no luck.
Anyone have the answer??
yeah dont do it.. i have kinda the same problem..i did it and it connected but now the controller wont work on my xbox.. lol anyone know how to fix that??
Yep. same problem.
The controller and receiver work fine on my other PC but not the one I want to play games on so I have good reason to believe the controller is working fine. Both PC's have Win XP Service Pack 2. I tried deleting the USB ports in Device manager but when all was rebooted and re-installed, the same problem exists, On my PC, the receiver is being detected in Device Manager but is not coming up in the Game Controllers window within Control Panel. Mmmmmmm????????
