It means that the flame sensor is not sensing a flame. If the flame is present and nice and blue the flame sensor is probaly dirty. Remove the flame sensor and lighty sand it with sandpaper.

I would replace the flame sensor if you cleaned it and it worked for a little while

Ruud Silhouette II has power but nothing else.

Sounds like there is a secondary fuse protection, or some wire came off. Did you check for ground?

The burner is not lighting! and thus no heating!

If it is an older unit, it may have a pilot light you need to relight.
If it is a newer unit, you may try to go out where the furnace is located and look through the inspection door sight glass for a flashing light. This light will blink so many times to tell you what is wrong. Instructions to what the flashing light means should be posted on the furnace .

I have Ruud Silhouette ii, about 5-6 yrs old...heater will work for a while, then it shuts down, house gets cold, I'd bang on the heater box, it comes back on..why does it do that? It does that every...

Rob, the blower always blows into the furnace therefore the arrow should always point to the furnace. As far as the unit failing at times, you may have a lose wire. Inspect all wires and reconnect them after cleaning if they look suspicious. Turn off the power to the unit prior to this. Your Ruud may have a diagnostic light that may help you troubleshoot the furnace next time it fails to operate. Check on the wiring diagram that is pasted on the reverse side of one of the panels. If it indicates a flashing or blinking light, you may be able to get a starting point where to look.

Gas furnace, main burner ignites the other 2 don't. then shutdn.

Between the burners is a small rail in the pressed steel where the flame runs across to light the other burners and it sounds like there is dirt or debris in the step over rails causing the problem. You will need to use some compressed air on those rails to clear them out. Once the rails are clear the other two burners should ignite right away.

Ruud Silhouette II Fails to Ignite

sounds like you have bad flame sensor or the sensor is in a bad postition. To get eliminate the lockout turn the power off to the unit and back on again. Look at the circuit board light and see what the troubleshooting code is.
