My earphone jack is not in. The volume is turned up to 10. The internal mic is set to H. When I play back if I jam the instrument up to my ear, I can hear a whispered voice in the distance... can't quite make it out but it could be me. :-) This recorder looks new and was barely used. Is there a reset button? Is the mic broken? Is the speaker broken? Can I take it apart?

Turn on the volume :) Make sure that there are no earphones connected to the recorder

I had same problem with a model TRC 8000A. After cleaning heads to no avail I finally, accidentally pushed th4e telephone record button and that cleared it up and it works fine. If you have such a button on yours try pusing it a couple of times.

Hello Guest.
There is a Stop, a Start/Stop and a Play/Stop. I tried all three in combination with erase but all I got was the word ''all erase'... never CLEAR. Do you have exactly the same model ICD-47?
Thanks!

The Marantz 660 has the three programmable pre-settings that allow you to set up how the machine will record (INPUT), play back (OUTPUT), what recording format to use (mp3-44.1K; mp3-48K; PCM-44.1K; PCM-48K; stereo or mono recording channels, recording level controls (Auto, Manual), VU meter display modes (normal or peak only) and a number of other adjustable function parameters.
These are accessed by pushing the MENU/STORE EDIT button (second from the left on the top bank of [round] buttons).
Once in this mode, the display screen flashes Preset-1, Preset-2 or Preset-3.
Select the preset you wish to program by pushing PLAY/PAUSE ENTER (Far righ [rectangular] button on the bank just above the screen).
Scroll through the settings by pushing the PLAY/PAUSE ENTER button until he sereen reads OUTPUT.
Push the PLAY/PAUSE ENTER button. You will see the output mode the machine is in. It can be LINE, SP/HP or SP/HP + LINE.
Scroll by using the <<TRACK JUMP>> button until the mode reads SP/HP.
Press MENU / STORE EDIT and the screen will read COMPLETED.
You've now put the machine into its internal speaker mode. Crank the volume control (front left of the machine, marked HP/SPK VOL) forward and you should be able to hear through the internal speker what is recorded on the flash card.
These presets are a terrific feature for reporters in the field that want to switch quickly from using the machine's internal mic and speakers for an on-the-fly interview to the machines line inputs and outputs for more controlled studio recording with mics and monitor speakers running through a mixer.
You just have to remember whih of the 3 preset modes youre in and what input and output mdes they contain.
