Not get hot

Check the fuse or breaker. If they are OK, you need a new one. Small home consumer appliances like a waffle iron are not repairable.

My Oster wafflemaker doesn't get hot! The lights are on but only gets warm

One or more of the heating elements are not activating. If you take it apart, perhaps you can do a continuity test on each element to see which is bad. I don't believe they sell element replacements so your only choice would be a new purchase or warranty.

The waffle maker has two lights. A red one which indicates te power is on and a green one which lights up when it reaches the desired heat (and the thermostat circuit opens and the device stops heating...

There seems to be a problem with your thermostat or temp cutout switch if the machine is getting exceptionally hot. This could explain the green light not coming on.

Tried to make waffles for the first time. They consistently burned in the middle. Added milk to the batter. Still burned in the middle, barely cooked on the outside.

Sounds like you might not have let it warm up enough. These usually heat from the inside out. So they heat up and then take a few minutes for the emtire surface to be hot.

Turn it on and let it heat up while you make your mix up. Or a good 10 minutes. Give it a spray of pam or equivilent on both sides if you want and then make some waffles. If you want to experiment a bit try dropping a drop of water on the middle and outside. When they boil or his about the same your are hot enough.

I just bought one

Typically the wire bends often and severely at the plug (i.e. when using storing, etc.) Every time it bends, there is a chance that the small copper strands in the wire break. The more strands that break, the smaller the wire effectively is. When electricity passes through a wire with a lot of resistance (such as the now-smaller wire right at the plug), it gets hot.
Bottom line: replace the cord before it starts a fire. Failing that, you might be able to cut off the bad section of cord and install a new plug where the cord is still good.

How can I have it fixed? It will not get hot

I personnally just went through this.

I don't know if the company repairs them but they will replace the unit for you.

If it is less than one year old, and you have the receipt, go to the waring site, and look up the nearest dealer for repair and bring it to them. They should be able to contact waring for you and get you a replacement. Won't cost you a dime.

My replacement had a silver body virsus the original black body. The shop told me they have yet had a customer repeat of this problem.
