How to reset sound card to stop constant, strong echo?

My 5-year-old son ran some internet game program that has caused the sound card to constantly insert strong echo into all sound output such that any speech is distorted beyond recognition.

How can I reset the sound card to default values on my emachines desktop (model=T3504)?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

If you have the Realtek audio, which my emachines desktop has. You can go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Realtek HD Audio Manager. That will bring up a window where you can select setero/quadraphonic/ect. But you want the tab that says "sound effects". Make sure your effects are set to "none" on the "environment" tab and not "bathroom" or "Auditorium" or anything that would invoke echo into the sound. If it is set to "non" then check the "Equalizer" drop down and see if something is selected there. "None" would work. Hope this helps.

Try setting your sound card back to the defaults by going into your control panel (Start--> Control Panel) double click Sounds and Audio Devices (if in classic view), while on the volume tab press the ADVANCED button, then go to the performance tab and press the RESTORE DEFAULTS button. If that does not do it you can try moving the Hardware acceleration slider to the left one notch at a time, and if none of those help I would use the device manager to remove the sound card (if you have the drivers to reinstall when you reboot.

There is no such thing as a windows vista machine. You can install different operating systems on different machines. Your problem is most likely that you're missing drivers for the peripherals.
Download a program called "driver easy" and run it. It will tell you what drivers are missing, once you get all the drivers installed you should find things work better, like once you get your network running then internet explorer will stop having problems.

It seems like the MOBO or RAM sticks, because if the PSU is bad you cant hear any fans working. If is 5 yrs old and you dont had spare parts to rebuild it the better scenario is to buy a new one.

My Acer Aspire 5320 is overheating to a point that it crashes and the fan has bean constantly running when i play games on it or any video car incentive programs

you need to stop playing these kind of games on the lapop, this is because latops are not built for gamers, and the graphics card cannot support the game, this causes the laptop processor to heat up, thats why the fan is on constantly and eventually crashes, check the games minimum system requirements before installing and playing games, you can purchase a graphics accelerator card that plugs into the USB slot boosting the graphics but these devices are still very expensive

kind regards

You need to get/buy/download the service manual and
schematics, so you can then trace and analyze the circuit.

A strong knowledge of electronics is required to do this.

Analysis is complicated by the fact that all key functions
within the monitor are controlled by software running on
undocumented digital control chips. The chips are called
ASICs, or application specific integrated circuits, custom
designed for the manufacturer, and programmed with secret
software.

Beyond obvious voltage and continuity checks outside
of these chips, there is little to analyze or repair in a modern
electronic appliance.

There is no magic solution nor red and green "what chu mah
callit to replace"

I have thirty years in electronics and a degree in computer
electronics, yet I stopped fixing monitors years ago.
There is no percentage in it.

I just bought 4 x 21" hi-resolution wide screen monitors,
with 5 Millisecond pixel time constants and 1000:1 contrast
ration for $180 each,

and sold of my 3 year old monitors for 15 bucks each at
a garage sale.
