maybe the sound driver is not installed. check for the sound driver first. just right click on my computer menu then choose properties, after choose the hardware tab and click device manager. then this will show the hardware installed on your computer and those hardware that needs a driver, that is usually in color yellow and question mark sign.. you just need to see the model of the motherboards name to download the software for sound. hope this may help you

I have a emachine w3503 and my sound is dead

Hello sortugado, If your sound is dead, This could mean that you've plugged it into the wrong socket. This could be wrong. But try this.
Start - Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager - Right Click on the Sound/Audio (it should have a yellow sign next to it) Then go Find Manually and go down the List, Press Sound & Hardware, What ever brand your computer is, there should be sound that is the brand name as the same computer brand you have. Once that's found, Click it. It should then install your hardware sound. If this problem still doesn't work, You can simply go on ebay and buy a $5 Sound card. These do work, I am using one now, and let me tell you, it's absolutely great! So cheap great quality, and fast shipment. I hope you get your sound to work :)

My computer lost sound. different speakers and a headset dont help. it says it was unplugged

Select DEVICE MANAGER (HARDWARE tab if Windows Xp)
(This will show you all your computer's hardware2_bing.gif and peripherals)
Locate your SOUND section
Should have many codecs listed
Right click each item, see if you need a driver updated
(any yellow triangle indicates error)

Hope this helps

My sound hardware work but i dnt hear nothink in my output speack

Question: Are your speakers plugged in and turned on?
First check the hardware of your speakers, that they are plugged in, to the proper speaker port. then check the device manager to see if it recognizes the sound card /speakers, it not then go to add hardware app and run it , remove sound card and replace it with windows Plug and Play running. if it recognizes it then run your program to see if the sound is playing. Good luck hope this solves your problem.

Sound card : Unknown SiS Hardware.... what would i do?

Check out System Information for Windows ( ) Download and run that.

If you have onboard audio: Go to Hardware>motherboard Look at your motherboard manufacturer and model. Go to the Manufacturers website, look up that model, download audio drivers for it.
If you have a sound card, then you need to find out the manufacturer and model of it, same thing- go to their website and download the drivers.

I lost the sound on my computer.

Go into control panel and then goto system. From there go into hardware, then device manager. Scroll down to the Sound, Video and Game Controllers... See if your sound hardware is in there or if there is a yellow exclamation point on it. ( An explanation point states that the device is not working). I would try to remove it from the list and right click on the devices and let it scan for new hardware. With any luck it should re-identify the hardware and reinstall the drivers for that piece of hardware. If you have the audio drivers for your computer, you could try to reinstall the sound drivers. If you dont have the drivers then you should be able to download them off of the internet.
If your hardware is in the list and it appears to be working, double check your speakers and the speaker volume on the speaker itself as well as the volume control in the computer.                                                           Hope this helps...                                                                            Joe < Data Miner >

Pls help me

Could it be a driver issue with your sound hardware?

Assuming you run Windows, try a right-click on My Computer & select Properties for the system control panel, then select teh hardware tab and the Device manager button.

Look in the hardware list to see if you can find your sound hardware. If it is present but has a warning sign, then you probably need to re-install the driver (try the manufacturer's web site for the latest one). If it's not there, then the hardware is either disconnected (open the case & push the board home in its slot) or has died, in which case you need a new sound card.
