Bus speed of mother board. No point having 4Gb in if 3Gb is all it will handle.

The other possiblity is the extra 1Gb is damaged and it is still booting up

How much maximum ram size can i use?

If you are running a 32bit OS the max that will work, no mater how much you add, is around 3.8GBs. Memory in pairs is best, 1gb x2 or 2gb x 2, for instance. If you have a 64bit system OS it will use more. Your hardware/software will dictate the amount the machine will use efficiently

Ram Installation more than 3G ex: (4G or 5G) will read 3.25 G How? i am using 2 units of KVR800D2N6/2G pulse 1G original>

Probably your Operating System is a 32bit. 32bit OS can only read up to 3GB of RAM regardless of the capacity of RAM you install. For example you installed 2pcs of 2GB RAM, that makes it 4GB in total, 32bit OS will only recognize 3GB. upgrade your OS to a 64bit OS and you can upgrade your RAM up to 8GB depending on how much your motherboard can handle.

Blue screen with 4gb, OK with 3gb of RAM on 6720s laptop Using windows 7 (32 bit) there are 2x slots, but the top slot seems only capable of recognising 1gb of RAM without giving the blue screen at startup...

A 32bit OS and Processor is able to Identify and work with upto 3GB of memory.
That may be the cause of the issue
Even if any computer has more then 3gb of ram it will showup only upto 3gb.
if you install 4gb or more then also it will not show up.

.........and second reason, may the ram that you are using are not identical or one of them is not working properly.
Check the specifications of the ram and also try using one a time.

Thanks and Regards

Ram again

Go to your google search bar and type in SIW, download and run it. In the left hand column, scroll down to the hardware section and click on memory. It will tell you how much you have and how much your motherboard is capable of handling.
Some boards like my Dell 8400 will take 4GB and use it all but the motherboard only recognizes 3GB, so if your unsure you might be able to go to the computer manufacturer website, go to support, type in the info for the computer you have and they should tell you what that board is capable of.
Hope this helps, good luck

4gb on msi k8n neo-4 F

Hello pejegess,

If your OS is reading the 4Gb, it will be running the 4GB even if the bios is only seeing 3GB. You may just need to update the firmware on your motherboard but I suggest that you just leave it as is since the OS is recognizing the 4GB.

Sincerely,

Agent Xiong

Acer Aspire E380 memory

Hi pimp69,
You can only use components compatible with Aspire series computers. Before you choose new components, please ask your authorized Acer dealer whether the part will operate within your Aspire series system. This is noted in your manual pg. 6.
Compatible memory for your Acer. Don't forget your Acer uses an intergrated graphics card that uses your system memory to function.

Good Luck & Kind Regards.
