After upgrading my PC to Windows Vista I can no longer authenticate on to the StorStation. I am running a Windows 2000 PDC and I have the workgroup name on the FSV set to the same domain name. I have tried creating a new user but every time I try to connect I just keep getting "Logon Unsuccessful". It all worked fine under XP and nothing else has changed. I have also tried building another Vista Workstation and that won't authenticate either.
Any Ideas gratefully appreciated
Cheers
Andy

Hi
cheers for trying to help, I dont think that the Server on my network has anything to do with the problem but I may be wrong, my reasoning behind this is that the Storstation uses its own set of users and passwords and is not windows based. I created users on the Storstation that are the same as the Domain users, this way under XP I never had to authenticate onto it as XP automatically submitted the current user logon information. I assume Vista also does this but just presents it in a different way that the Storstation doesn't like. My Vista version is Business.
Any thurther ideas gratefully recieved

A small additional thought....
Is it possible that because the Storstation only accepts usernames up to 8 characters that if Vista submits DOMAINNAME\Username that this is where the problem lies

what version of vista are you using, this is a very important piece of information, vista home flavors are not very network friendly,I recommend that you keep using XP until a few service packs are out for vista. If your using ultimate then something else would be wrong, possibly a setting on the vista box, Im not real sure how vista's authentication works but if they changed it enough then it might require a compatiblity mode or something in order to authenticate with 2000/xp, but then again i could be wrong and vista might authenticate exactly the same way as 2000/xp, try setting an xp box up as a server and see if the vista box can authenticate with it, if so then maybe 2000 is the problem, sorry i couldnt give an actual solution but im still new to vista myself and dont have any pc's that will run it, my good computers are all macs.
