Question about Apple iPod nano

Problem with ihome and ipod nano.

I got an Ihome, and when i try to plug in my ipod, which is the 2nd generation ipod nano (4BG) it doesnt respond to the ipod being plugged in at all. My ihome model is iH9.
The ihome works perfectly with the radio and everything. but when i plug in my ipod it doesnt charge it, or control it. O_O

and on the instruction thing it says
"NOTE: This unit will not control or charge 3g iPod."

does that mean it doesnt work for my ipod?
because i have the 2nd generation one.

please help .

Yes, unfortunately the ihome iH9 is not compatible with previous models of the ipod nano.

if you want a similar device, there are many other docking stations for the ipod that are ip0 that ARE compatible with the ipod nano 2G

iH85B is another ihome dock which is compatible with all ipods after the ipod mini (including the ipod nano 2G)

New ipod, old ihome. "device not supported" Any way around?

I'm sorry but no. the ihome is only for the 1st generation, so if you want to use it with your new ipod, you need to buy another one that supports second generation. this is a bummer, but its how they make their money.

Remote wont work with the ipod

Make sure the ipod dock connector is clear of any debris both the on the dock and on the ipod. Use a can of air to clean these and try reconnecting it.

Try updating your software on your ipod. Plug it into itunes and update.

Ihome won't play ipod, even after resetting ipod I have de same problem. I got an itouch 2nd generation and docked it on a speaker that supports it. It worked fine for two or three hours, but suddenly it...

Welcome to the wonderful world of the iHome frying the Ipod.
Your iHome, has most likely fried the mainboard on your ipod.
to check plug a usb into the ipod and connect to the computer.
if it comes up disconnect the usb and try a headphones in the jack.
if it doesn;t play sound its fried and you will need a new mainboard.
if it does play through the headphone jack, your lucky and keep it off the dock.

I have fixed at least 30 ipods taken out by ihome docks and other docks.
they are terrible for the ipod. Even Apple sells the docks on their website
that shows how much they care about the product.

If this helps leave a vote on fixya

Hey I figured it out. When you bought the 4th generation ipod nano it came with it's own dock insert. It fits perfectly and fixes everything, including the remote issues. Now my only problem is I have a black ihome and a white insert :( Good luck!
