Re: notebook or printer problem

You need to check if the printer is on a network that the printer is allowed to be shared in the printer properties, if not on a network check that the printer is showing in your printer/faxes folder, if not you need to install the printer driver. But really need more information on your set up as it's difficult to diagnose without knowing details.

Kodak printer junked and replaced with hp printer but error for the kodak printer pops up on every startup

It sounds like your computer is still trying to communicate with the old printer. In the control panel, under "Programs" / "Uninstall a Program" find anything referring to the Kodak printer or Kodak printer software and uninstall it. That should also free up resources on your computer. You may also want to check under Printers to make sure the computer doesn't still have a profile for the old Kodak.

Can't communicate on the COM1 port

Is this a printer you have installed and are trying to print to it? Maybe you don't have the printer configured properly. More than likely you should be using a usb port instead of a com1 port if it is a printer. Open your printer and check the properties.

Modems also use com ports, so check your setup if you are using a modem.

No communication between printer and laptop

Power down the printer and disconnect the cord connecting printer and laptop. If the printer is wireless, unpair the bluetooth link between printer and laptop. Remove printer and all drivers for printer. Go to manufacturer website for printer and download latest drivers. Restart computer. During the restart of the computer, power up printer. Once the computer is back and loaded to the desktop, reconnect printer. Make sure once the New Hardware Wizard pops up, you locate where you downloaded the drivers and complete the install.
