SOURCE: I dropped my flip in a river and I want to know if

You may be able to dry it out enough to retrieve the videos by leaving it in a warm dry place (like an airing cupboard) for a week or two. I doubt you will be able to take videos again though. Remove the batteries first,
and it may help to use a hose type vacuum cleaner on it.

I accidentally erased my daughters's wedding!!! can it be retrieved?

Possibly. Important: Take no more video with the Flip until you've recovered the videos! This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" wedding videos. There are many good freeware photo/video recovery software options that may help you recover your videos. This article reviews and outlines several of the better ones. Try for the ones that are listed in the article as being capable of recovering videos. If these don't work for you (but really they should if you just simply erased the videos), you might want to try some of the payware versions (with free preview features), or consider professional video recovery services.

My flip got wet and wont turn on. is there anyway to save videos

Do you use memory cards with your camera? If so, the videos should be saved on the memory card. Just remove the card and download it to your pc or view it in another camera.

If you do not use memory cards, then remove the battery from the camera, put it in a bag of dry rice. close the top of the bag and leave the camera in that bag for about a week to dry it out all the way. Once it has dried out, it should work fine. But do not try and turn it on and off ect while part is still wet or you may loose your videos stored on it and/or damage the camera.

I plug in my flip video and nothing happens except it charges...but thats all it does is charge. it wont open any software to download, my videos wont pop up

have you installed the Flip video software? Should be pre loaded on the camera but sometimes you have to install it manually. "My Computer" --> "Flip Video Camera". There should be a .exe file there that will install the software, then you can manage your videos. If you have already done this then I would check the USB connection and contact Cisco Support.

My Flip Video Ultra (out of warranty) has a six minute video of my grandson's piano recital that I would like to retrieve from the camera. However, on my PC laptop running XP and the Dell Desktop, when it...

Hi there kathleen,

If you plugin other usb device, does the computer recognizes it? With your xp computer, plugin your Flip and turn it on. Try to right click your windows start button and choose Explore. Then from the left panel, look for the drive letter associated with your Flip. If you're lucky, upon clicking on that drive, it will show its contents to the right.

If the above did not work, then we may need to format your Flip and try to recover the video using a recovery software later.

Camera software corrupted??

I had the same problem with my flip mino HD. Here are the steps I took to fix it.

1. Adjust the power options on your laptop to ensure it does not sleep/hiberate ever.
2. Reset the camcorder by inserting a paperclip into the hole in the tripod mount. Hold the paperclip in there for about seven seconds.
3. Then immediately plug the flip into the cpu.
4. You may not see anything besides the little blinking white light on the USB arm for a while (about 30 minutes maybe) but leave it in.
5. Eventually it should spring to life and show the recharging battery on the little screen (the Flip Share program may start too.)
6. Leave it charging until the little white light stops flashing - full charge about 3 hours.
7. You can then remove the flip and change the power settings back to normal.

I deleted flip videos from hard drive thinking I successfully transfered them to a portable external hard drive now I cant retrieve them

If you're running windows, check your recycle bin. They would go there unless they were too big. Then you would get a dialogue box when you deleted them saying they were too big for the Recycle Bin and would have to be permanently deleted.

Hope that helps, and I hope you an get them back. If you have any further questions, please comment. Please take the time to rate my response, and thanks for coming to FixYa.

Lost time/inaccessible files on flip

This may sound risky, but I did this and my Camera is working perfectly again... If you don't have any videos on it you need to salvage too badly this should do the trick.

1) Plug it in (obviously)
2) Go to My Computer and right click your video camera
3) Click Format
4) I clicked restore device defaults because it sounded safe (but may not be necessary)
5) Click start and begin the reformatting

After this i went from my incorrect 27:11 min. remaining on the camera to the full 60. Still records perfectly and the software is still on it and works correctly. Hope it helps some of you out there =)
