Try these steps --
1) click on the sound icon in the tray and make sure that its turned up and not muted.

I have compaq c700 laptop and using window xp.its sound dsnt work

You will need to visit the Compaq website. Click on the support link. Find your specific model # and then input the operating system you are using. A list of all available drivers should appear. Download and install the sound driver for your system. Reboot and you should be all set. Hope this helps.

First has this ever worked?

If yes - Please verify that you have power going to your speakers (if power is needed) and that you are plugged into the correct port on the computer (usually green that says sound or line out)

You may want to test your speakers on other types of equiptment, such as a boom box or anything for that matter that supports the plug.

You may also want to try the computer with a different set of speakers.

If this works replace your speakers if not I would ask you what type of operating system do you run on your computer such as windows xp, '98, Vista ?

Hi..my sound card is not fuctioning

Hi, Vijay, Just log onto the manufacturers website.

Depends on your make of laptop, Dell, Asus ETC.

On the site you will find downloads and support.

Click on this, locate your laptop madel and then your O/S and download the audio drivers you want.

If you are running XP on an old laptop [as I do for my work]

I have found the processor and ram are working at their limit to run XP and do not run the sound system.

Compatibility issues with windows 64bit

Your AUDIGY2S will work just fine with the xp64 operating system using the regular xp drivers. It really depends on the application you are using your computer for, but I would like to share my experiences with xp64. I installed it on two of my graphic systems, one for photo editing and one for video editing. They are very fast, but because of the lack of xp64 compatibility, we have to have many work arounds. We should have waited a few more months before going to 64. Hopefully someone else can help you with the 64 bit links. Best regards, nightdiver
