Hi, the recording softwares i've tried tell me to choose from the Audio input ( in my case that's the "Conexant HD Audio Input"). but the only options available for audio input are "Line In" and "Microphone" (my previous PC gave me the option of "Stereo Mix' which i don't get with this audio driver). i can't record the radio broadcasts, or for that matter any streaming media i want to. i'd really appreciate if some1 could help me out. i need the recordings to improve my listening comprehension in my german course. thanks

Re: Compaq C773TU - recording streaming audio
Well what I've done in the past is gone to Radio Shack and bought some patch cords that go from 2 patch cord ends to a headphone jack or you can buy the cord from any place that sells electronic items.
Just tell them what you want to do and they will have the correct cord for you.
Hope this helps

Actually this notebook is not officially designed to work on Windows XP, however
there are some unofficial drivers available for windows XP, you may try
downloading the sound drivers from: http://sites.google.com/site/sriksang/software/drivers
I'd recommend to install all the drivers from this page. In case the drivers on this site do not work, let me know I shall provide you other links to the drivers.
Hi i hope that you have the audio drivers installed and working and of course tested with your headphone..best way to do this is to play any song in media player and monitor it on your headphone... the default settings for most DAW( Digital Audio Workstations) including ACID will be to mute the audio output when recording. This primarily is done to avoid feedbacks during recording. Anyways coming to the point. Since people would like to hear whats been recorded there is a scheme called as direct monitoring. I believe in ACID it is called as "Input Monitoring" and it basically is a small speaker shaped icon that appears next to the Record Arm Button once it is armed. Click on Input Monitoring and make sure its turned ON. Now you can listen while u record. Hope this helps...contact me if u need further help

To install audio / modem drivers, first download and install Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp32646): ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32646.exe And then install Audio driver: http://www.2shared.com/file/2944663/2a44c4df/sound.html NOTE: The URL above will take you to a non HP Web site. HP does not control and is not responsible for information outside of the HP Web site. Download Sound.zip file from 'Save file to your PC: click here' at right bottom of the website. Extract the downloaded zip file to a folder on hard drive. Installing this driver may result in an error. But continue with the following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly. 1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter. 2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver. 3. Select "Install from a list or specific location" 4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install" 5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list. 6. Click Next and then click Have Disk. 7. Click Browse, Choose the location where you have saved the extracted folder. 8. Open the folder and choose the .inf file listed. 9. Ignore any errors you receive and proceed with the installation. Conexant CX20548 Modem Driver for Microsoft Windows XP (sp36089.exe) (UAA Driver needed) ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36001-36500/sp36089.exe Download and install Conexant modem driver (sp36089). This will give error message and also will create a folder C:\swsetup\sp36089 which contains extracted driver files. The same method which is used for installing audio driver needs to be followed for modem.
