Compaq C773TU - recording streaming audio

Hi,
the recording softwares i've tried tell me to choose from the Audio input ( in my case that's the "Conexant HD Audio Input").
but the only options available for audio input are "Line In" and "Microphone" (my previous PC gave me the option of "Stereo Mix' which i don't get with this audio driver).
i can't record the radio broadcasts, or for that matter any streaming media i want to.
i'd really appreciate if some1 could help me out. i need the recordings to improve my listening comprehension in my german course.
thanks

Well what I've done in the past is gone to Radio Shack and bought some patch cords that go from 2 patch cord ends to a headphone jack or you can buy the cord from any place that sells electronic items.
Just tell them what you want to do and they will have the correct cord for you.
Hope this helps

Ive been able to record and now i cant record bcuz the screen says "no inputs..." but i can hear music thru the inputs and the lexicon alpha is selected as the input and output sourc. whats wrong????

It sounds like you have NOT connected via the recording software.
It is like the normal Windows software audio has hijacked the audio system even though it is external.

Go into your recording software and look for an option to select the Lexicon device. You did not tell us what recording software you are using.

This is not an uncommon problem with these external audio recording devices.

IMic doesn't work with Logic Pro 9

I had a similar problem, but I managed to solve it; however, I'm using different recording software. The iMic simply does not have built-in input monitoring. Chances are, you are getting an input-signal but it is not being monitored. Try to find some kind of input-monitoring in your recording software. I found a toolbar, in my recording software, called "playback state" that has an option for input-monitoring. Search the help file index, within your software, to find something similar. Here's a quote from iMic's quickstart guide that might be of further assistance:

"In order to hear your turntable or microphone, you will need to enable an important preference in your recording software, usually called “Playthrough.” It may also be called Monitor, Passthrough, Cue, Preview, etc. Enabling such a feature tells the software how to route your audio, and is necessary for monitoring even when not recording."

Moreover, once you've solved this, I recommend using the iMic for both input and output, as latency with onboard-sound-output will likely be intolerable for input monitoring.

Hi i have an hp pavilion dv2000 lap top, i am trying to record my acoustic guitar into the comp. This lap has conexant high definition audio sound card inbuilt. However when i try and plug a microphone...

The mic may be muted on the computer. In XP, double click the volume control icon in the bottom right of the screen to get the mixer. If you don't see the microphone input, go to 'options' then 'properties' and place a check in the box to show it. Then make sure it is unmuted and the volume is up.
In Vista, right-click the volume icon and choose recording devices and make sure it is on and volume up.

I have a snap back delay when I try and record using my m-audio and protools. I can hear a slight delay in my headphones to what I'm actually playing. How do i get rid of this?

Hi emmastevens

what you are hearing is latency(delay) in the electronics, software, and maybe your computer is producing some problems also. Have you tried to monitor yourself direct from a mixer before you feed the signal into the MBox.

EMU 1616m (cardbus) not offerring its input sources to Reaper

While you probably solved this already here goes. I'm not familiar with reaper but most audio recording software can select between using windows wdm & ASIO. If you aren't set to ASIO you won't be able to see the Hi-Z (Dock A/Dock B) inputs. It looks like Reaper supports ASIO so that should be fine. If though you are using a program that doesn't support ASIO you need to use the EMU patchmix and 'patch' the input through to a 'wave' channel.

Sound is not recorded

The problem would appear to be your audio settings.

You have the audio input set to Realtek HD Audio Input. That is the audio input on your soundcard, not the video capture card. You will need to change this so that you have the capture card selected. (I am not familiar with this exact model of card so I can't tell you exactly what it will be called.)

Alternatively, if you are trying to capture the audio via your soundcard (not recommended as it can cause sync problems) you will need to make sure that the 'line in' channel in enabled in the Windows mixer:

Start>Control Panel>Sounds & Audio Devices>Audio Tab>Click Volume in sound recording section>Tick Line In

Hope this helps,

Matt
