Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, the easiest solution is to change keyboard and port used. Say from PS/2 to USB or the other way around.

Should you want to try a fix, it would depend on your keyboard:

  • if it is USB, pls try a PS/2 type of keyboard, on boot enter CMOS/BIOS and confirm that Legacy USB are enabled;
  • if PS/2, then probable keyboard fault or PS/2 port on the motherboard;
  • if wireless, pls check battery or charge, drivers re-installation, re-check configuration/settings.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

    Thank you for clarifying since your post originally indicated a "Generic problem for all ASUS PC Desktops".

    It would be rare for the entire keyboard not to function on a laptop. Often it would be certain keys, missing or locked on. Even based on your description "key board not working proplery", the only recourse is a hardware replacement of the entire keyboard assembly. This is a relatively easy and quick repair assuming a suitable replacement could be acquired.

    Often, component level repair, that is repairing the erring keys is not recommended as the laptop keyboard is assembled together and would be very difficult for a novice to split into its parts.

HI,

If this is a wireless keyboard please reinstall your keyboard drivers.
This will fix the issue.If this a wired one then please unplug your keyboard from back and plug it back again.This should fix the issue.

    If you still face the same problem then there are no other home remedies.You will have to get it replaced with a new one.

Key board do not work

Right this is a wild shot but here we go....

If you are using PS/2 connectors for keyboard and mouse make sure they are the right way round
If you are usin USB m+k then amke sure you are using the BACK USB ports only and preferable the first two that are seperate.
Please let me know how you get on

First you try to clean the key board with a brush. If there is dust inside there is a chance for malfunction. or you can change the key board. Key board is not much costly.
