Question about Sharp LC-37D7U 37 in. HDTV LCD Television
Hi,purchased television last week and all was fine.this morning i switched it on and after fourty seconds the television turned itself off.i have read through the manual and double checked that i have set it up properly.the timer is set to off so that is not the problem.when it turns itself off it does not go to stand by.it goes dead.to get the telly to come on again you have to switch it off at the wall and after a minute switch it on at the wall then on at the telly.after fourty seconds pass it turns off again.it states in the manual that it may be overheating but it does not stay on long enough to overheat.just before the television turns off the picture vanishes.the big question is,is my brand new telly goosed.your help in this matter would be very much appreciated.thankyou in advance..hallyboys..

How many times per second does the POWER led blink? (dont worry about the OPC).
1x per second (constant, steady blink) = bad inverter/lamps
2x per second = bad power supply
3x per second = bad main board
You can buy the parts online and fix if yourself!!

Aquos has the same problem. I'm not sure how I discovered this, but
when I lean the TV forward and hit the power button it will turn on
every time. If the screen blacks out and I don't lean it forward when I
hit the power button, the screen will just remain blank. It is very
weird, but at least repeatable.
- Thank you, Guest. That did it. It definitely seems to be a problem with the TV. Tilting it and hitting the power button helped me get the video back.

I believe your TV needs the latest version software upgrade. The current software may have been corrupted.
There is a USB service port on the side of your TV. You can download the software to a USB memory stick at sharpusa.com then upgrade your TV from the service port.
If any problems doing this, call 1-800-BE-SHARP and they will run through the procedure.

Call up Sharp, if you are part of the AQUOS Advantage Program, you get FREE in home service along with the repairs for it.
They'll give you a case number, set you up with a technician and BAM!
I called on a Wednesday and got an appt for that Saturday for the technician to come to my house.
I doubted Sharp alot less after that.
