2000 Isuzu Rodeo aux power outlet on the front dash cooks anything that gets plugged into it

I have a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo and the aux power outlet on the front dash cooks anything that gets plugged into it. The cig lighter works just fine. Any ideas on what to check or replace? I looked at the wires going to the outlet and they look fine. A bad ground maybe? Any ideas where that would be and why it is only this one particular power outlet?

The only fuse for the aux power outlets I can find are in the in cabin fuse box. Checked that and even replaced it (with another yellow 20 amp that is a known good one). The fuse doesn't seem to be the problem. Power gets to the outlet and literally smokes anything that gets plugged into it (hence my thought that there might be a bad ground). The second aux power outlet seems to be working fine so solution three may be it, although looking at the socket, I can't see where it would go bad. Pretty simple device and no signs of thing gone wrong (until you plug something in).

Tested the socket. It works fine. At a loss. Anyone know where this circuit should ground out? All in all, 13 years of driving and this is only the 4th item to fail in the car. Pretty awesome. (Intake maniforld gasket six years ago, wiper switch four years ago, O2 Sensor last month, and now this outlet). BTW, the Haynes manual for the truck is garbage. Doesn't have this info in it and counts only three of the four O2 Sensors in the truck.

Sounds like a short in the socket. Often times dirt and junk get into the socket and can short out the connection.

Cranks no start, have fire to plugs. I have reading all this stuff on this site and fhave not found a solution. does anybody here know anything that actually works? 2000 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2 auto 4x4, tryi

Take this one step at a time:
(a) Does the vehicle start when you spray Starting Fluid into the Intake Air Hose?
If it does, then you need to figure out WHY it is not getting fuel. Possibilities are Clogged Fuel Filter, Bad Fuel Pump, Bad Crankshaft Sensor, Blown Fuel Pump Fuse or other Fuses too...
(b) Do you have a NOIDS Light to test the Fuel Injectors? This will also help you narrow down the troubleshooting

On a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo 2 wheel drive 3.2 V6 I need to know where my power control module is located

The powertrain control module(pcm) is located behind the lower trim panel in the center of the dash. Right in front of the shifter.
I hope this helps.

1993 Isuzu Rodeo

Have a look under the front of the transmission column/dash near the pedals. theyre usually there, tucked behind the trim. Not attached to anything, just on the end of wires. And you usually need a Tech-II diagnostics machine for any Isuzu kit, as even the likes of Snap-on won't read it.
