Question about Panasonic Viera TX-32LX70 32 in. LCD TV

Sharp dvd and Panasonic tv not compatible?

I am in Australia and I have a Sharp DV-NC 20 (DVD) Player and a Panasonic TX-32LXD700A. (TV)
Normally it plays dvd's fine. However some DVDS from the US and UK won't play. Just wondering if there is anything I can do about this?  Does the DVD player need a pin number for the other regions? Or is the tv the problem
Many thanks.

Thats got to do with the dvd aswell as the player, most dvds are locked to specific regions, the only suggestion i have is to get DVD X Player Pro for the pc since that will let you play and region dvd on your pc no matter what the drive is locked to.

I am in Australia and have a Panasonic SC-HT878 DVD player that plays PAL DVDs fine through my TEAC TV but when I play NTSC DVDs I only get a black and white picture. How do I fix this so my NTSC DVDs play...

There should be a setting on the DVD's menu for output of picture. You should look under colour settings, to see if it has got NTSC output. You should also check your TV it might not be set to NTSC aswell. You can look in the user manual of the DVD to see if says anything about NTSC playback. If you have lost the manual you can download it for free on the Panasonic website.
If it won't playback NTSC discs, I'd guess you can get an adapter from somewhere.

Sharp DV-NC 200 (DVD) Panasonic TX-32LXD700A (TV)

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

Unfortunately, if the Sharp DV-NC 20 was bought in Australia, it would not allow any mods/hacks to make it region free. Sorry. Additionally, even if the Sharp could be made to change regions, the Panasonic TX-32LXD700A uses a Tuner Type Integrated SD/HD DVB-T 7MHz Australia, PAL B/G. it is (again) hardware limited to the PAL Colour System (Region 2).

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Pls be informed that due to my current rank and rating, even a Helpful would be detrimental to my status. Should this solution not address your concern, it would be appreciated if you could just not rate it at all. Cheers.

WILL MY DVD PLAY AREA 1 AND AREAV4 DVD'S?

Hi camonk2004,

It's interesting that your DVD player was purchased in Russia but plays Region 1 DVDs. Region 1 is North America. Does your Player also play Russian DVDs (region 5)? If so, then it has probably been modified to play DVDs from multiple regions.

Check the back side of the DVD player - the rear panel should have a Region number on it. If the region number is 1, then try playing a Region 5 DVD. If it reads the DVD, then the modification that was done in Russia will probably allow it to read any DVD. IF the Region 5 DVD won't play (or if it is ejected automatically), then your player's region control os still intact, and it will only play DVDs from the same region as the one listed on the rear panel of the player (or DVDs marked "ALL").

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind Regards,
H2H
