Question about Panasonic DVD BurnerII MULTI Drive SW-9571-CYY DVD-RAM/DVD-RW Burner

Matsushita SW-9571-CYY not registering DVD-R's

For some reason my Matsushita SW-9571-CYY is not registering both unused and closed dvd-r's. Could this be a driver issue and if so, where could I find an update for the drive?

Hi, I don't know if you ever solved this problem - but I had the same thing on my SW9571CYY. The solution is to replace the small drive belt inside the drive ( It is very thin and doesn't seem up to the job it has to do). Just remove the two screws on the rear, then the seven screws holding the plastic cover with the springs on it (don't worry - everything stays in place). Lift the disk tray out and the little belt is towards the front. I used an old belt from a broken LG GSA-5163D that was lying around. I think it would be difficult to find the correct spare so some people have even used a "O" ring with a slightly smaller diameter than the original belt.
Hope this helps Dwane4444

Finalize a Disc on Mangavox MWR10D6

No. Generally finalising just writes the unused spaces as unused so the player knows and adds a stop code. The shorter the DVD the longer the finalise. An hour and a half on two hours is plenty of space.

Disk skipping, slowing down problem

Check your DVD's for scratches and try one that does not have any marks or fingerprints. If it still skips try removing and reinstalling the DVD driver. My guess is that the drive is out of alignment. Most drives have a tiny screw on the underside of the lens mechanism that you can align the drive with. You will need a really small screw driver. Do a search on google for aligning DVD's. You have to only turn the screw a tiny tiny amount because you can make the drive unusable. This is a last resort because a mistake can ruin the drive. www.photphot.com

Problems on Matsushita drive

You said it's a problem with the CD's right? Ok, then follow me through the rabbit hole here... open "my computer" right click on "DVD-RW Drive" and choose "properties" There are 4 tabs at the top, but you want to see "hardware" (third tab) Once in hardware, you'll want to highlight your DVD Drive and hit "properties" (button) Once that window opens, you'll have 5 tabs, of which, you'll want to choose "properties" (second tab) Make sure that "Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device" is checked I know, there's a lot to go through but most of the complaints that I see are about Nero and it's "so called" compatibility with your laptop's ability to read DVD and Data. Once again, it's DVD that is effected and it seems that InCD has a way of messing with your Drive. Next best solution is to completely uninstall Nero, turn off the PC for a few minutes, then restart and reinstall nero, choosing the advanced installation. Make sure that you don't reinstall InCD, but also note that WinXP's writing ability is not turned on either.
