Nortel Networks is intentionally deceitful in their manual (forcing you to call them for assistance that you must pay for). While they say to use Feature 84/Line Direction for calls to an external line, this will not work. (Even when the phone tells you that all calls have been redirected.) Rather, use Feature 4/Call Forward. In the manual it says this is for other lines within the system, but it will work for an external line.
You have to change the rings from the voice mail server. If you don't know your way around the server, its best to get a local NEC tech although it is fairly simple to navigate. Depends on your skill. Typical default password for the server is NEC
Hi, man.
There are many things to consider in this type of application.
when calling from PSTN to IP using analog lines from time to time you will have this type of event, I suggest working with H323 protocol, this will tone down a bit your problem. If you want optimum performance, you should use a DID with the channels you need and address to your PBX SIP FreeSwitch. The DIDs are cheaper and are digital which eliminates random connectivity problems in the incoming call. Once you have directed the DID you tell your server to transfer the call to the IVR using your internal dialing plan.
put an "H" after the extension in the voicemail, i.e. 200H, you have to put in your #656 #657 codes into the phones to integrate the voicemail. #656 91, ext of voicemail pilot, hold #657 92, ext of voicemail pilot, speed dial button (program one on the phone if it doesnt already have it), enter the number of seconds before the phone should forward to voicemail, i generally do 16, hold. that should fix that!
It depends on the kind of telphonesystem and the kind of forwarding.
Generally the procedure is #code# where code is
21 for call forwarding unconditional
61 for call forwarding on no reply
67 for call forwarding when busy
On most mobile operators you can do #002# or ##002# to take the all in one go.
On some fixed (analog/PSTN/ISDN) lines you can use #001# to take them all inone go.
Some PABXes(officephones) also have call forwarding on precense (lunch, meeting. etc) and this is often turned off with #23#
