Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

My Nintendo DS Phat won't power on

The DS was is sleep mode after working fine for about an hour of playing fine (and playing fine for about 2 years prior), and after taking it out of sleep mode it turned off. When I plug it in to my charger, it gives me the orange light for about a second and then disappears. I have tried taking the battery out and cleaning it to no avail. I have also taken the DS apart and checked both the F1 and F2 fuses, but they were both still working. They mobo doesn't have any water spills on it, so what could be the problem?

SOURCE: nintendo DS Lite will not power up

This can sometimes be caused by the single smt capacitor on the board in the top half that the screen cables plug in to. Try replacing the cap or the entire board.

SOURCE: nintendo ds lite won't power up

Try two things.

  1. One of the LCD screens is making a short circuit. Disconnect them and see if the charge led turns on. If so, check these screens (or replace them)
  2. You could also have a defective Wireless PCB (the small PCB that has the black Wifi Cable connected). If that PCB is defective, loose or even missing, the DS Lite will do nothing at all

SOURCE: spilled coke on nintendo ds

Sometimes these things happen and the only way for you to fix it at home is remove the game, and let it dry out for a few days then try it again, BUT DO NOT TRY TURNING IT ON UNTIL IT IS COMPLETELY DRY or this will fry the circut board. If this does not work you will have to take it to a place to have it fixed.

My DS Lite wont charge! Help!

Try another charger, yours may be faulty. Alternatively, the battery may need replacing as it is no longer holding charge, these can be obtained very inexpensively from Ebay and you will just need a small cross head screwdriver to remove the cover on the back of the DS lite, then tap the unit in your hand to dislodge and remove the battery.

have you tried updating the firmware on the DS? It maybe because of that , that it wont play newer games? You will need to connect the DS via wifi to your home network the same way your laptop etc connects to it and then go into the DS settings menu and choose system update. Make sure the DS is fully charged and connected to a mains charger BEFORE updating. See if that solves your problem for you

DS is stuck in charge mode when plugged in.

Your DS may have a problem reading the battery gauge, and the DS will only let the charger do its thing for a period of time. Then, if it is still connected, it may burst more charge in. This means that your DS is acting up, and your battery may have a rare (and not harmful to the DS) malfunction.

Sleep Mode

There is a magnetic contact switch on the right of the motherboard that controls sleep mode. If you cannot reboot the console and get it to work your only option is repair or replace.

Sorry I could not be of more help. Bob
