Question about SimpleTech SimpleDrive Pininfarina 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Onyx

Open Question

I had to force quit my Simpletech SP-U35/500 now it won't show

Up on my mac book. I was running garage band off of the simple tech, which I've since been told was possibly part of the reason it froze in the first place. I gave up and force quit after half an hour of the pinwheel of death. When I started it up again the drive seems to be operating from what I can observe, but it won't show up on my desktop. I have 320 gigs of samples and sound bites on there...bummer!

Am I screwed or is there a way to deal with this?

thanks,

Mikhail

How to display Monitor image from mac book through samsung SP-H03 pico projector?

It's not that easy. The SP-H03 accept VGA input through the D-Sub connector. Mac book does not have this output directly. So you need another piece of adapter for the MAC Book to provide VGA output. It would come out from your Mac "Display Port /orThunderbolt port".
Another way is to use a USB to VGA adapter for Mac.

HOW TO TRANSFER DATA FROM SIMPLE TECH HARD DRIVE TO MAC

Yes Mac and Windows use 2 different and incompatible hard drive formats. However, there are many files that can be opened between the two. Mostly media and some docs. Try uploading to somewhere like MS Windows Live Skydrive or simply email. Then download. This is a quick fix. I heard you could use file sharing, but that requires a network. Even burning to a disc should work.

I think you bought a piece of junk especially if you cannot hear the hard drive spin when you connect the power supply.
I suggest you get a tech savy friend to check out this hard drive for you.

My hard drive quit showing up on my mac desktop and i am not able to access any of the files. the red light still turns on when i plug it in but thats it. i tried plugging it into a pc to see if it would...

It sounds like the hard drive died.. If it won't show up on two different operating systems, then it's more than a simple computer reboot. You may want to try a local repair store and see if they have any luck backing up the drive.

If you click on the apple logo, top left of scree, select force quit and then click eject.
Disconnect the drive and reconnect it. Wait for the drive to show in Disk Utility and select Mount for use in your Mac. Not Dos!

Simple Tech SP U25/60 external hard drive

Almost nothing is supported on Win 2000 because it had shuch a short life span. most new tech made in the last 2-3 years only runs onXP or Vista. Every once in a while some will work back to 98.

p.s. did it say it was compatable with 2000? look on the box
