No wireless connector for wireless guitar in box when opened
Kids opened the rockband box on christmas morning only to find they could not play with it because there was no wireless connector for the wireless guitar in the box. Very disappointing to say the least.

I have a harmonix wireless guitar and a wired drumset. Neither will respond, though they both show a blue light. I'm playing rockband 3 with rockband 1 instruments. Only the mic works and I have no idea why. Of course, I've tried new batteries in guitar, re-synced, powered on and off.. to no avail. Suggestions? Its a new in box set.
1. You need 3 other controllers besides the Nyko guitar (they can be the rockband instrument set, or just any PS3 controllers. I used a DS3 a RB guitar and GH3 guitar) 2. You need all 3 of the controllers assigned to the PS3 taking up spot 1-3 except the Nyko guitar (goal is to assign the Nyko to 4 or higher) 3. Plug in the Nyko dongle and attempt to link with the guitar (it will most likely make the Nyko button turn red which is the color that won't play) 4. Turn the switch on the dongle back and forth once or twice ending on GH setting letting the guitar link on it's own (It may not assign correctly on the first try, but keep switching between Rockband setting and GH setting. Always end on GH, because it will work with Rockband on GH setting) 5. After a few times it should link and allow you to play
Problem is the firmware of the PS3 (V3.10 or higher)
Ensure that the receiver is plugged in to the USB port in back of the Wii Console. If the light on the receiver is blinking, too, then with the Guitar turned on, press the white button on the receiver.
You need to sync the guitar to his console, just like a regular controller.
There's a sync button on the console, and the controller. Press them both at the same time, and give it a minute. That'll pair the console up with the guitar, and it'll work after that.
The instruments for Rock Band and GH:WT are compatible on the PS3 and the Xbox 360, not the Wii. Blame Activision, the creators of GH:WT - they went a different route with hardware for the Wii that made things incompatible.
I had this same problem.
In my case, the problem was that we bouht the guitar hero guitarm they told us to put the Wii remote inside the guitar and it will work.
What we found out was that those games have a matrix of compatiabilities. The Guitar hero guiar that you plug the Wii remote into the guitar, those DO NOT WORK with Rockband.
You have to buy another Rockband guitar, the guitar is $69.00 ad it comes with the second little square dongle thingy but it works.
If you look at the guitar for the guitar hero box, even the generic guitar that's made by Nyko, it says guitar hero on the box. it should say Guitar Hero ONLY...
Just return the cheap little $29.00 guitar and get the Rockband guitar and it will work. There are a series on sync procedures, try them all. Also go into the Rockbad game and sync the TV, basically you need t choose the TV type, rear projection, LCD, CRT etc... That will help the timing problems.
