I have a DS that had water spilled on it.  It does not work and even after a charge.  Can I get it repaired and for how much?

Well, if it's still under warranty then get it replaced by Nintendo. Otherwise, you could attempt some unorthodox methods like heating it with a hair dryer or putting it by a fire. Lastly, I'd try someplace like Batteries Plus and see if they can't replace the battery for you, which should cost like $15-20.

My son had a liquid spill on his ds lite and the top screen went blank. Following troubleshooting advice, I dried out the battery etc and reassembled it. It has been working ok for 12 hours approx but now...

This happened because residual of water, or consequential oxide on wiring or board contacts caused a short inside device.
Try drying again, if it still does not work, one of the components has blown, you will probably need to replace the internal board.
Check for oxide on connectors.

We think a neighbor girl spilled liquid on/in my son's DS Lite. It now won't power on and the orange light will stay on for only a minute or two when we attempt to charge the unit. The battery is good......

If the DS was turned on when the liquid was spilled on it I don't think there is much hope to be honest:(

If it's under warrenty send it back otherwise you might try taking it apart and use a hair dryer to dry it off... that's a long shot though!

Water came in contact of my ds. I am charging it now but everytime I try to turn it on it flashes and dies. What can I do to fix it?

You have to send the DS into Nintendo. Sorry, that's the only way to fix it. They can do the full fixing for $75 and replace the shell covering and screens, a total clean-up and they'll fix any other minor problems. Here is the link to order a fix-up for screens that came in cotact with water:
Click on where you're from, click on "System and Game Problems," then click on "Liquid spilled on system." You can either remove the battery and let it dry out, get a new battery, or send the DS into Nintendo if more then the battery got wet.
Hope this helps.

Nintendo DS Lite charges but won't power on

I suggest that you get it fixed. The DS may have been dropped, had something spilled on it, etc. Getting it fixed is cheaper, and right now, the less money spent, the better.

My ds lite will not turn on

Since this was caused by water damage. Your really out of the Warranty Boundries. A Typical Nintendo Warranty covers: Faulty equipment (Only Nintendo Products), Device stops working or works poorly (But due to Appropriate use)
Unless you purchased a warranty from a store, and even those usually don't cover water damage. Your most likely out of luck, Sorry :(

Troubleshooting my ds

You should look for a repair shop because opening your ds on your own may void the warranty
