Question about Computers & Internet

I have a computer with mother board P4I45GV. I had to re-install windows. Updated drivers. The screen resolution changes to 640x480 and when booting the system, it re-configures the resolution to 1280x1024 all the time. I changed the resolution to 1280 x 1024 on the desktop but it looses the vlue when shutdown.

Try re-installing the video adapter with updated drivers. And check whether the drivers you are installing are compatible with the version of Windows you are currently using.

HOW DO I FIX MY SCREEN RESOLUTION FROM CHANGING FROM 1280X1024 TO 640X480

JFrank,

Your monitor needs to be a high resolution monitor which supports 1280X1024. If is not then this is why your monitor keeps going back to 640x480. If it is a hi res monitor then you may need to update your drivers. If it is a Windows machines simply click the task bar>>control panel>>enter "Windows Update" in search box then click it and your drivers will be updated

Dell display problems

You can't, as there is no Windows 7 Driver for the Intel Integrated graphics, the only option is an Expansion video card (PCI) that has windows 7 support

It only displays 4bits

If your computer monitor displays 4 bit color and a resolution of 640X480 and you cannot increase the color bit and the screen resolution then the display graphics card driver was not installed or the wrong graphics driver was installed.
Install or re-install the correct graphics card driver.

Have another computer dell desktop not this one,it boots up and shows windows xp logo and then the screen goes completely black and cannot get into any thing

Possibly it is a video driver problem. Try entering boot menu by pressing the F8 key at startup, and first of all try with "Boot in last known working configuration". If it doesn't solve the problem, retry booting in safe mode and change the video resolution to 640x480 VGA. This will look horrible, but if it lets you reboot and login as Administrator in normal mode, you will be able to reinstall the video drivers from Dell (either the CD-ROM or the web site). At that point you will be able to raise the resolution again.

If it still doesn't work you might need a recovery install of XP, which sometimes messes with some programs' configuration.

Display off

Boot into safemode. push F8 on startup until safemode option appears. If computer displays windows there, then it's most likley your resolution or your monitor frequenzy set to high/low.
change the resolution in safe mode, and the the frequenzy to 65 then restart your computer in normal mode.
