Here is the manual if you do not have one. Try that "Splendid and menu button for options and if you have another monitor please try that: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/LCD%20Monitors/VW19/VW192/e2682_vw192-series.pdf

I have a dell studio 540 desktop, I need to restore to factory settings but my monitor will not stay open. It opens for a few seconds then immediately goes into power saver mode and turns off, how can

I see two things here, but need clarification;

1) Monitor goes to Power Saver Mode, then turns -> OFF?

Sure that monitor didn't go into Standby Mode?

2) Why are you performing a restore back to factory settings?
Pick up a virus?

Primer;
The monitor receives a signal. A video signal. The video signal comes from the computer.

If the monitor is NOT receiving a video signal, then the monitor will state No Signal.
This is for older monitors.

New monitors do not state No Signal anymore.
It's Power Saver Mode, or Sleep Mode.

If the monitor is truly OFF, the Power On button will Not be lit up.
Or the Power On LED light on the monitor.

Monitor power on LED is lit, or Power On button is lit?

Monitor is not receiving a video signal;

Use a monitor cable from a KNOWN to be working monitor, for a temporary test.
OR,
Use a Known to be working monitor, and it's monitor cable.

Need to find out if monitor cable is good.

Monitor cable checks out good?

Then problem is computer.

The two leading issues with desktop computer failure, is;

1) Computer is dirty inside
2) Power Supply inside computer is bad.

Please post back in a Comment.

If you see a message box that says "Power Saving Mode" after pressing the power button, then it simply means that the monitor/display is not detecting the computer. Check the connection/cable between the display and the computer and make sure your computer is not in standby mode by moving your mouse.
From what you stated in your problem, you dont need a inverter or a bulb. If you have any image like the message box displayed then its working fine. It just isnt seeing any signal changes on the input and therefore goes into power saving mde. Try another cable or hook it up to a different computer to check the cable.

I turn on my computer and it immediately goes to sleep mode. Why?

Go to control Panel and click on Power Options, in Power Schemes tab set, monitor never to turn off, harddisk to turn off after 30min and standby after 20min.
Please take the time to rate my expertise.
Thanks

Monitor is switching off immediately after system is switched on. Again when monitor is switched on, images appear for about 3 seconds and again monitor switches off.pl give the solution.

You need to determine if you is turning off or going into standby mode. When your monitor shuts off, the power light will turn orange if it is in standby or the light will turn completely off if the monitor turns off. If your monitor goes to standby, that means that your monitor is losing signal which indicates a problem with your PC. #1 Make sure cable is firmly secured and both screws are tight #2 Check your video card make sure that it is firmly in its slot. Take it out and put it back in. *as long as your computer is open give it a good cleaning with compressed air* If those things check out it is possible that your video card has failed and needs to be replaced.
If your monitor is powering off #1Check plugins- try something else (i.e. lamp) in the outlet #2 Try your PC's power cord in your monitor

Dell monitor goes into power save mode immediately

The burners may have nothing at all to do with this. Try the monitor on another computer (a laptop will do) if you have one. If the problem perists with the monitor, then the moniitor has failed. If the monitor works on another computer, or you do not have another to try, then start the computer and tap the F-8 key to boot to safe mode. If that gets you a display, then fix the display settings, also check the device manager for any signs of hardware trouble, and make any corrections that may be needed, and reboot. If safe mode does not get you a display, try disconnecting the new hardware. If still no joy, I'd say it's the monitor.

Monitor stuck in standby

Try tapping F8 when booting and then choose 'safe mode with networking'
if this works go to the lcd manufactures web site and look for a specific driver for your screen.

The Monitor not works after the Standby Mode or Switch off

If you have not tried yet, pick a can of freeze-it, or other. Gain access, safely power up and when the monitor goes into standby, hit the area and cool down the IC's. If they are overheating, this has a good chance of bringing them back and identifying your problem. If so, look at better heatsinks, reapply new paste, or install a muffin fan, or seek better ventilation.
Heat is the enemy of all IC's.
