Igniter on Burners Firing

Can you help? I have a GE Profile cook top. All of the sudden all of the burner igniters started firing. These normally arc when the burner switch is turned on. Now, it is an oscillating arc that will not go off. How can I solve this?

Located on top each burner control valve is a switch that controls the igniters. One or more of these switches has failed

Burners do not ignite via igniter. I can light via a match so I know I have gas flow. I can hear thhe igniter clicking but still no ignition.

Sometimes the igniter point gets dirty due to food or grease and it will not make a spark check the point. Another issue I've found is that the distance between the point and the burner has changed either by something falling on it or so. This causes the point to not create an arc.
The best way to find out what's happening is to observe the point to see if an arc is visible.
Good luck

GE stove JGSP28 igniter has been clicking non-stop for the last 2weeks. Blow drying the burners has slowed down the clicking to every 5sec. Front two burners seem to be clicking at the same time while...

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter.
A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you make need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

Our burners light but when you turn the oven on you can smell gas. Can you tell me what is wrong

most of these will have the oven bake ignitor become weak and not ignite the gas when turned on.
you should see the bake ignitor try to glow orange but the gas will not lit to the burner.
without a digital meter to read the current, should be 3.2-3.5 amps then you wont know if the ignitor is weak.
you could try to just replace it and see if that fixes you trouble.

I have a GE JGB920 Gas Range problem. One igniter does not work. How do I change out the igniter?

Most gas ranges only have one ignitor (for the burners), so if one of the burners is not working, I would inspect the connection between the ignitor and the burner...not the igniter itself.

Burners not lighting

You have one or more spark switches defective or a loose wire to the switches.
They are located on each gas valve stem.
Yes they should be replaced for safety.
In the interim you can match light the surface burners.

GE gas stove the burners on top work, the oven won't get hot

The most common reason a gas oven won't heat is a bad igniter. It is located near the valve and burner under the oven bottom. You can usually see it glow orange just before the fire lights. Most GE ranges take a cylindrical igniter part #WB2X9154 or #WB13K21 rectangular igniter.
