My asus will not detect a wireless connection

Hello

check if the led is turned on,if the lead is turned on make sure that the network card is not disabled . check it under network connections and see if it is disabled, enable it.

what does it say when you are trying to scan for the wirless netwroks..

it should either say A) No wireless were detected in the range ... if you get this message it means that you wifi is working fine on the laptop .. check if you can see the wifi turned on the router .

Windows is not configured for this device( or something like that ) .. if you get such kind of message it means you have not enabled WZC(wirelesss zero configuratioin).. for that click on start -- Right Click on MyComputer -- Manage -- Services -- Find wireless zero configuration -- enable.. (After this go to network connstion -- Rightclick -- Propterties--Wireless networks -- Check the box that say use Windows to configure the device.

How to remove an Existing Wireless Profile (XP, VIsta, Win7)

When we connect to a wireless network, a "profile" is saved so that, in the future, the Wireless Network Adapter will connect automatically to the network if it is available. These profiles are saved and used by Windows even if you changed the settings on your wireless router causing connection problems. You need to delete these profiles to allow Windows to create a new one that is compatible to the new settings of the router.

To delete an Existing Wireless Network Profile:
In Windows XP, if you're using "Wireless Zero Configuration" to manage your wireless networking, go into the Network Connections folder ("Start > Run", type ncpa.cpl and click OK), right click the Wireless Network Connection, select Properties and then the Wireless Networks tab, where you can highlight and then "Remove" an existing profile.

If you're using third-party software provided with the wireless adapter, there should be a similar option to remove an existing profile.

In Vista or Win7, right click "Network" (My Network Places) and select Properties. Click the link at the left to "Manage Wireless Networks" then, in the next window, highlight the "Network" to delete and click the "Remove" button.

I recently bought asus lap top (N53JN-SX098V) could not connect to the internet thriugh wirless, I have Netgear router could ypu please let me know how to fixed

- first make sure the driver is properly installed by right clicking my computer > manage > device manager > look under network adapter
- second make sure the wireless is turned on (there should be a small light below the touchpad with a antenna symbol.)
- third check which utility is used to connect to the wireless network (if the computer is using the built it one to windows or a third party wireless utility. you can usually check this by checking the icons on the bottom left hand corner of the screen. if you have more than one icon for the wireless network that usually means you have a utility that is controlling the wireless)
- try to connect to the wireless network using the wireless utility (you need to know the SSID or network name and if the network is secured you will also need the pass key or pass phrase.
- If you dont know the wireless key and SSID you can check the router itself by hardwiring to the netgear > opening a browser > on the address bar type in the gateway address (you can check this by opening a command prompt window start>run>type cmd and typing in the command ipconfig in the command prompt window, the default gateway will be listed),

ASUS EEE PC w/ Windows XP will not Connect Wirelessly

You need to know if your home network requires a password or paraphrase to allow you to connect. Also, you might have to check your settings on your router, they have to match the settings of your laptop wireless adaptor. You can try these solutions and if no luck post with more information

Try visiting the Windows Update page.

Usually when I have problems like this after a few updates the problem disappears.

Is the wireless network password protected?
