Buttons to mine are on top - no CD, just radio. Screen on the front. I appreciate your time, expertise and any suggestions you may have. Jan

Are there any physical buttons on the system? CD tray? Is the screen on the top of the unit or on the front?

Unfortunately Bose will not release their schematics or parts lists, effectively giving them a monopoly on repairs. According to their web site, www.bose.com, they will repair most Wave radios for $100 or give you $200 credit towards the purchase of a new set. Check your options before you spend the big bucks though. A new HD radio, with better sound and a MUCH lower price, might be a better choice than repair of a problem prone Bose.

Bose does not release their parts lists or schematics, effectively
creating a monopoly for parts and repairs. In fact, their web site
says that the Bose factory is the only option for service or repair.
They used to list a flat rate repair charge on the web site, but
removed it - probably because it scared too many people. Their
troubleshooting guide (below) might help, but it's very simplistic.

Before you invest in expensive factory repair on one of these trouble
prone sets, you might want to investigate the new HD radios -- better
sound at a MUCH lower price.

To resolve this issue, try one or all of the following:

    • Make sure your Wave® music system is plugged into a working outlet
and is able to play audio. If it’s plugged into a working outlet but
has no display or audio, see System won’t power up

    • Reset the system by disconnecting the power cord from the wall for one minute, then plug it back in

    • Your display’s brightness may be set too low. Display
brightness is designed to automatically adjust to changing light
conditions, brightening when there’s lots of light, then dimming when
the room darkens. To adjust brightness settings:

      1. Press and hold Alarm Time/Menu button on your remote until SETUP MENU appears on the display

      2. Press Tune/MP3 ">" button four times until BRIGHT HI appears on the display

      3. Press Time "–" or Time "+" button to set display brightness from 8 to 15 for high light conditions (factory setting is 12)

      4. Press Tune/MP3 ">" button once so BRIGHT LO appears on the display

      5. Press Time "–" or Time "+" button to set display brightness from 1 to 8 for low light conditions (factory setting is 4)

      6. Press the Alarm Time/Menu button to exit setup, or wait 10 seconds for setup to end automatically

My right ear bud cuts out every time I move my head. I've only had this pair about six months.

It shows that there is a loose connection.

Take the item back to place of purchase and get a replacement. It should be under warranty.

Take care!

BOSe Wave Radio - Disk "not readable"

I had the same problem with the disk unreadable error and took my unit to a authorized repair dealer about 100 miles from where I live to have it fixed. It ended up costing me about $300 to have the CD unit totally replaced which is almost as much as I paid for the unit in the first place. I am like a lot of you that used the CD very little although the unit was about 3 years old. I think Bose has a problem and would like us to think it is very rare. I bought a Lifestyle surround system about 14 years ago that has a CD and have never had a problem with it so needless to say I am very disappointed in the Wave II Radio/CD system. I am fairly certain the problem will occur again, but only time will tell.
